I will give one last suggestion to everyone who is MAIL ORDERING EGGS!!

SEND A MESSAGE and ask that your eggs be collected and shipped in specific ways for the best hatch!!

Always in the Hatching 101 article!

The following Word File can be used when ordering shipped eggs,
it is our suggestion that you copy/paste/edit to help you get the best eggs possible. Letter written by ozexpat

An open letter to egg shippers.doc 27k .doc file

This really is important...I DID NOT DO IT!!! Today my Call duck eggs came, from 2 different hobby breeders. They were packaged very well and secure, however, the one batch was sent small end up, and the other came lying on their sides. I'm not sure if there is a different protocol for Call eggs, but I thought it strange that neither one sent them the traditional way. I have yet to candle them, but the package from NC suffered quite a blow in transit,so...

I also received an order of call duck eggs today, from NC....Everything looked fine, but the air cells are ruptured :(

I would treat them like chicken eggs--not turning for 5 days, big end up in the incubator. Turn on the turner but be very careful about vibrations. Keep them as quiet as possible.

Air cells and the embryo will repair itself. The trick is for the embryo to heal and still have enough energy to hatch. Eggs are a closed system and there is a finite amount of energy in them. Getting the incubation as close to perfect really helps.

I hope the hatch for you!
