Just got back from the ER. My son came home from a birthday party in Baltimore, it was a roller skating party, anyhow he injured his ankle. It was really swelled up so we decided it was best to get it checked. Dr said possible fracture, have to get ahold of the orthopedics in the morning. Ugh..... Not at all what I had planned to do tonight..

Well, maybe this is cheating, but planning to hatch out a brood using a broody hen. Keep your fingers crossed that somebody goes broody by next Sat. If not, I'll set up the inc'y until one does! Gonna set as many as I can (collecting this week for it). These are bantam mixes.

Good luck to everybody!
Not cheating, good luck getting a "B"!

Wanted: missing chicken eggs from today. If found hollar... Lol
Apparently my girls have found a really good place to hide their eggs today. They are going to stay in tomorrow! If it kills me.. Lol
Funny!

Hey guys! I've been busy since yesterday morning! Just to update, I set 12 Narragansett and 4 Royal Palm eggs at 11:30pm last night. (Late I know). And today I have a broody Silkie who is setting yet another turkey egg and an EE/AM who I just gave 5 BLRW and 3 FBCM.
Great, good luck!

Last set then I am done showing our 4 day olds!

Cute, and now you can start showing us 5 day olds!

I want to join to the hatch along
Welcome!

Becky n i tryed out our cabinet inc . we got chics hatchin 3 days early. we havent used it in a year. and its homemade.
Wow. Temp might be a touch high.

I want in! I don't have many, but I'd love to hatch a few with you all!
Welcome!

I have that very 'bator and had an entire hatch fail because the thermo that came with it was not properly calibrated. I got new thermos and am looking to hatch up to 50 fluffy butts in the next few days. Lockdown was tonight.
Good Luck!

I'm watching the Lakers on the tv, the emu cam on my laptop and posting with my phone. My name is Sandi and I am a technology junkie.

Now we know why your husband had to email you from the other end of the couch!

Boy, I hate popping in during an AWWWW session or when something fantastic happens, because it makes me feel silly when I have a bit of nothing much to share!

Ummm... I scored a local source for gorgeous BCM eggs and will pick up/buy half a dozen this Friday. (I also gave a BYC "business card" to the source folks because at least one of that couple really belongs in BYC!)

That makes two breeds I am hoping to hatch: Black Copper Marans and Penedesenca!

Luckily, two flock hens (Grace, a bantam EE and one of the Penelopes which are BCM/Silkie mixes given to me as chicks more than a year ago) have decided they want to sit on ALL the eggs laid in two bucket nests. I can put some of the BCM and Pene eggs under each AND Sparkle the House Silkie, who went broody a few days ago.

Hooray for Sparkles and friends.

Well...so....no big deal or anything...but...I have a NN out.

Ok so I set some WH duck eggs...do I need to do anything else as part of the hatch-a-long? Plan on setting some banty cochins on the 29th as well :)
Sometime after contest one closes we will be asking people to report the number of eggs they set.

Okay, I am most definitely in this year! I'm not sure how many eggs or just what I'll be hatching, but I know there will be bantam cochins involved, and probably easter eggers and brahmas, and I volunteered to help a friend who is incubator-less out and hatch something for her (not sure what they are yet) so I'll surely have something! At this rate I won't be able to say how many I'm setting until the set date!
Welcome!

It's monday morning here in Norway, and I with you all a great day!

I didnt get to set my eggs as planned last night. My incubator has stabilized on 37,3C, when it's supposed to be 37,5-37,8

I have no idea what to do about it. Tried turning up the heat in the room to see if that could help. Fingers crossed now

Good Luck! And Happy Monday.

I know I am late reporting in and this thread is moving too fast to catch up.

I set eleven Turkey and ten goose eggs for the Easter hatch along. On Wednesday I will be setting twelve Chukar.

Chicken and quail
Hatching a little bit (or probably a lot) of everything.

My test hatch is done, although I'll keep the bator on today for the few eggs that didn't hatch. I have 17 happy chicks, 62% - not the best but so much better than the last time. Easter hatch will be even better I hope.

The last chick out measured a 20% weight loss on day 18, so I guess even a tight squeeze can make it. I am constantly amazed at the resiliency of birth!

That emu is wonderful! I dread to think how big it will be when grown. I'm beginning to wonder where all my chicks are going to live, but an emu? or two or three? Congratulations!

He is home from school today. I'm not excited about him missing today due to them starting the PSSA's today but, his ankle and foot are really swollen and we spent most of the night in the ER. So he would be in no shape for the testing today anyhow. Gotta call the Orthopedic Dr Herr in a little bit. Funny thing is I have known this Dr since I was a kid even before he had to set and cast my arm after it was broken in elementary school. Boy did I just age that poor DR. Lol Thanks for the concern. I won't be on here as much for a little while, need some more sleep myself.... ;)
