Good Morning! Broody fever is going down round here...I think I may have a second broody. sent her paking off the nest several times yesterday so if she is still at it on set day she will get eggs too :) Time to start collecting.

Both broodies are mutts I hatched in the incubator last year the latest one is from @bethbug74 and is a Dorking/Polish. Do those of you with mixed breed find that they are more likely to go broody?

I just got notification that my eggs were shipped out to me this morn. They are expected to arrive on Wednesday. I may set a little early maybe thurs night or Friday morning instead of sat.

It's OFFICIAL! We have every type of fowl being set for this hatch-a-long!
Emu's and pheasants and guineas - Oh my!
Ducks, quail, turkeys and chickens too!

I've had both pure and mixes go broody, and even a hatchery production red.

No worries, that's why we have the +/- 2 days for setting.

Congrats on the broodies!

My bantam I thought was definitely broody still hasn't commited, one day shes on the nest growling at me and throwing swift pecks at my hands and she wont give up the nest to any other hen. Then the next day she is off the nest hanging out with the other chickens and sleeping on the roost. I kind of hope she decides to be commited to being broody. I have 3 eggs due that hatch at a different time than all the other eggs and Im going to be using both incubators to incubate in so I wont have a hatcher accessible. SO if she stays broody I can toss them under her to hatch.

Hahahahahaaaaa...I have been hitting my snooze for the past half hour and dh asked me to hit the snooze on my roo!

Good morning, Easter hatchers!

I will have barnyard mix chicken eggs ready to ship Weds if anyone is interested. Dad is a very polite, gentle RIR and my layers are EE, barred rock, and production reds. I was getting 4 eggs from the 6 of them regularly during the winter. I just hatched 21/25 for my neighbors and wow...they have quite a variety of color! 7 were auto-sexing Rhodebars. $15 plus priority shipping. I wrap each separately in bubble wrap. PM me if interested.

First hatch of the year is in lockdown!

12 d'Uccle Mille Fleurs, 9 Ameraucana/Araucana bantam, 2 from Delilah my micro bantie frizzle, 2 from one of my most favorite backyard cross banties crossed with my d'Uccle roo, and 26 backyard cross banties! All of them candled on day 14 are still in. Just saw a little rocking in there. So excited for fluffy butts. Candled the before setting to check on size of the air sacs and I think I saw at least one of the chicks trying really hard to internally pip! Anyone ever seen that before? It was so awesome!

Good luck, I am going into Lock down this afternoon.

Just got back from the ER. My son came home from a birthday party in Baltimore, it was a roller skating party, anyhow he injured his ankle. It was really swelled up so we decided it was best to get it checked. Dr said possible fracture, have to get ahold of the orthopedics in the morning. Ugh..... Not at all what I had planned to do tonight..
Aw, that's never a good way to spend the evening :( Good luck with the orthopedic appointment - fingers crossed all the way from Norway hoping it's not fractured!
Woo hoo! DH woke me up at 5, we have a little EE chick! Our very first to hatch!
Woohoo! How fun! Congrats on the little one, lest hope it's a girl :D
It's day 18 for the first batch of Cotton Patch! 4 out of 5 still look good! Second batch should ship today!
Awesome! If they all hatch you'll have a great hatch rate! Are they shipped eggs?
Happy Monday Morning All! Im feeling a bit sick today Ive got a cold blagh. But I have no work today and kids are off to school so I get to relax. It's wonderful when they actually decide to go broody around set time. There's nothing like seeing them raise their little ones on their own! I also find they don't really get that much more tame when I raise them myself. I feel much more relaxed with the chicks raised by broodies, most of them do a very good job :) I haven't noticed any differensiert between the mixed and purebred hens in my flock, but the birds with alot of BC and silkie in them go broody more easily.

Yayy! Hope they arrive safely!

A roosters with a snooze button is high up on my wish list  Have a great monday!

My incubator finally stabilized at the right temp - 37,8 but a little lover at the bottom. Now I'm off to sterilize some eggs and check some aircells! I picked up the eggs myself, so hopefully the aircells will all be fine :fl
