I have data on thousands of shipped eggs that I have attempted to hatch but I am looking for a larger pool of variables for a research paper on shipped eggs hatchability.

Could anybody who had shipped eggs for the hatch-a-along please PM me with:

Set number
Number viable after 1st candling
Hatch number
How many you assisted
how many pipped but did not hatch
when did you start turning
how often did you turn

I will draw from a hat the name of one person who answers the questions for me and he/she will win a CocoBeachPoultry tshirt

Oz, I assume you want these #'s after the hatch? Do Call Duck Eggs count? I really want that shirt!

I suggest also asking for candle date in terms of days since setting -- that may affect the number viable at first candling statistic. And it might be wise to ask for any known issue notes (eg, power outage, etc) in case it skews your information at all.

This should be really helpful to all of us in the future Oz, great idea!

If I am disciplined enough to write it all down, which I often am not, I will certainly send to you. My numbers may throw things off for you, though, as I am hatching at over 5400 feet of elevation. Expected hatch rate here on shipped eggs is 25% if the eggs are fresh, well packaged, and delivered timely. I have done no better than 33% so far. I have done as poorly as 0% several times. A very expensive learning curve.

I use a propane turkey fryer - I can set it up anywhere, the pot they come with is perfect depth, and it even has a long probe thermometer!

WOW that's really an egg!? I thought you made like a home made egg roll or something LOL I couldn't figure out what you were showing us. So strange some of the eggs we get from our chickens.
