Haha, yeah, my month old emu actually chases my ADULT CAT and terrorizes HER lolololAwesome! Every time I see him all I can think about is my 3 month old kitten who loves to terrorize my baby chicks. I think he would have a heart attack if he saw this chick!

Moved some chicks to the brooder, ALL are BS FAVS so far and one CCL male it
They were filling up the coolerbator and I think we have about 15 more or so to go!
so they can breath now ha ha ha
all eggs have pipped or hatch except three, one brahma and two CCL are not pipped : (

I got my meaties early as well the funniest thing is to see them run they waddle a lot..ours have an date set of april 26th..until then I have their pen in my 50x40 garden that will tilled up half of they are funny..I have their pen in there because they poop 4 times what a normal chicken does at least .
lol, Well, there are a couple reasons. They make wonderful livestock guardians, make fantastic and funny pets, lay about 30 beautiful dark green eggs every year, you can sell their feathers for arts and crafts, some people raise them for meat, and I have been told they taste amazing...like lean steak (since they are red meat). people use their leg scales for boots, Their leather for purses, and you can sell their eggs for 30 bucks an egg or 360 bucks a dozen eggs! And their most valuable element....emu oil, Which is awesome with easing joint pain for people with arthritis.Do you see any movement??
Ok, I just have to know...what exactly is the purpose of owning an emu? Just because? I admit, every time I see pics of the babies, I think "Oh my GOSH I have to have one of those!" But then I wonder, where on earth would I put it when it grew up? In with the goats??? And why do I want an emu?? Is it like having a peacock...a novelty you can just look at and because they are just so cool to have?
