Question: Is there a way to provide heat to chicks without needing a heat lamp?
Premier1 http://www.premier1supplies.com/detail.php?prod_id=120893&cat_id=165 and Brinsea http://www.brinsea.com/prod-EcoGlow_Chick_Brooder-239.aspx sell the heating plate type brooders, which are supposed to be more like a mother hen in that the chicks can feel safer hiding/snuggling under them.Question: Is there a way to provide heat to chicks without needing a heat lamp?
You can put them in your bra. I did that this week when one chick had just been washed and put in the bator to dry when the power went off. It slept there all night and was nice and dry and ready to join the other hatchmates in the morning. If you try this, I highly recommend a paper towel ........

I just realized what the paper towel is for. You are dedicated. I admit I wouldn't sleep thinking about a chick being cold so would probably try this.this is a weird...but great idea! I guess its no different than the broody mom!
