I have more chicks hatching again. Lol!!! ones hatching now are Rhodebars. Beautiful breed but still needs some work. Will get pictures when they all get done hatching. Good news is I have a guy that wants to buy all my other chicks.

I love Bumble Bees, they are one cool looking bee.

I don't like wasps..I guess they are considered a bee? That's ok, I don't like them. Their sting really hurts. Got it right on a finger yr. before last as I picked up an apple off the ground, guess he thought that apple was his! Man that hurt for the longest time. I haven't been allergic of a bee or wasp sting yet. Knocking on wood! Have a daughter that is very very allergic. :/
Bees are not wasps or hornets! Don't confuse them - such an insult to the bee! Hornets and wasps are more defensive of their nests (we might call it aggressive, looking at it from an opposite point of view) and can sting multiple times, while a honeybee dies shortly after stinging, leaving his stinger in your skin (brush it away, then much less swelling, if any). Honeybees will only sting when protecting their hive - in the fall they tend to be a little testier, because they are guarding their winter supplies of honey.

I'm nervous as all get out. Sigh! My Call eggs are due to hatch on Wednesday, I think. I set them 1 day (23rd) early for Call Egg set. I am wondering when I will get a pip, and when I'm actually supposed to lockdown. I think Sunday? Everything says Calls hatch around day 24 but can take up to 3 days to hatch. So would the pip happen 3 days early or on the 24th day?? Half have small aircells because I kept the humidity high to control aircell growth on the wonky cells (which worked, I kept them from growing an amazingly small amount) but now I'm afraid for the small cell ones. GAWD! Did I mention I'm nervous!

:( I am sad, I candled my eggs and most were still clear or I could defonitely tell the embrio had died. :( So sad........ So I decided that i was going to set more eggs. I am setting my SS eggs aside and the eggs from my Japonese WBT bantam/silkie crosses. The silkie is the rooster. I think it will make for an interesting looking bird.. :)
My older chicks are doing great have not lost one (knock on wood). Wish I knew what I was doing different this time to make the hatch so different.. I had such great hatch rates the last time.

:jumpy Oh, in other news I am getting some MAYLAY eggs today from a friend!!!! I am so excited for the chance to own this very endangered chicken!!!! I hope I can get those eggs to hatch! :jumpy

Made progress on the pen for the Guineas. Need to get some more wire today so I can finish enclosing the top. Have to build the gate yet also. I am using wood that we had around here so far. may end up having to buy a few boards yet. Will try to post som pictures later. Weatherman says it is going to rain today.. :(
