This week's to do list for Mrs Oz:

Have coop three cleaned out and re-littered for the 3 week old "kano" chicks coming out of the brooder.
Add 10lb hanging feeders to all coops.
Clean out pipe feeders and fill them all with crushed oyster shells.
On 8"x8" squares of plywood, paint the number for each coop to aid communication.
Build the grow out nipa hut and pen
Have the chainsaw guy mill the new logs as well as have him try and get as many 1x4 boards out of the left overs of the big log.

Set quail, chukar, guinea on Wednesday morning.
Set chicken eggs on Saturday 6pm.
Do you loan her out?

Apparently I'm so picky about the photos I share that some people have started bugging me (on my art site) to post some of the ones that didn't make the cut. I didn't want to spam everyone with a dozen pics, so I put them into one big image.

Since they're chick photos, I figured I'd share it here as well. Please enjoy!

Schweet!

BYM- back yard mix?

We will be messing with our guns a lot more soon. I intent on all of my kids knowing all their gun safety, how to clean, diassembke, reassemble and shoot properly. And my oldest (6 yr old) is almost where I can start teaching him hands on gun safety. Unloaded at first of course.

My son is a little older and probably better at it then me. He is wanting to try out for the JROTC rifle team at school. Fingers Crossed!

We have taught our children gun safety as well. Boy Scouts is really good with firearm safety as well. My 14 year old is looking forward to Shotgun shooting at Summer Camp this year.

The last time we took our kids shooting, my DH gave me his Colt 45 handgun (which I have only shot once) and told me to go practice with it. Due to having children and busy lives, I hadn't shot a gun in quite some time. So I went over to the handgun range, and nearby the 2 range masters were chatting. I walked past them and got ready and shot my target. When I was done, I collected my tight pattern of bullseye holes in the target and started to walk back to my DH. One of the men asked me how often I practice my shooting. I replied that I haven't shot in 12 years. Their faces just about dropped to the ground.

So, I go back to the kids and hand the gun to my husband, so he could practice. I showed him my target and he left to go shoot. He came back and said yeah yeah yeah and showed me his target that was not nearly as good. Then he said, "those guys are STILL talking about you over there." They told him - Man, you don't want to tick her off!

My husband, son and I all took a turn on my handgun. Son was the best and most consistent...the only one who never shot a handgun before, of course. But I so did better on the rifle than both of them.

Pulled 13 clear eggs from my Easter HAL, I should candle my broody's eggs tonight, she's got 11.

Current hatch almost complete. 7 turkeys and 7 chicks...we are over the moon with the turkeys they are sooooo cool.

Also....DH's started runs. It's going to be 3 breeder runs and 1 grown out pen. I need to get moving on the coop build now.

How are the eggs doing that I sent you?

Singing Incubator From Hell Update: Still movement in some of the eggs, though it is getting much harder to see. The humidity has been wicked high and being in GA it is already very high so the air cells have not grown much since the 7th! I don't think I will even add water to the thing at lock down at this point. Would you?
