I have a broody one a clutch of about 13 eggs, and she was moved into her lovely broody coop yesterday so she can have some peace and quiet! Today she hasnt budged out of her nest to eat or drink so its been over 24 hours since she has had anything! a few of the eggs are due to hatch on friday/saturday. Any ideas on if she hasnt moved because the some of the chicks are due over the next two days or is she grumpy because she has been moved to a private pen? Either way, should I be worried about the lack of food and water?
I have some due to hatch friday/sat and some due to hatch on sunday, do you think I should put a saucer of some stewed corn and oats in with her to keep her going? They won't move right before they hatch. Once they get done hatching she will get up and eat and drink. My guineas do the same thing. I know their eggs are about to hatch when one of the girls stops showing up to grab a bite to eat during the day. She will loose some weight, but will be fine. They are built to do this.
I was thinking about something like thisI guess I fall into the deaf sector LOL - I have no problem with the noice of my Guineas. I will take natural sounds versus 3am Kareoke along our beach any time.
Bottled O2 running into a bator at a very low rate would be interesting. You would you want the percentage too high. I need to research the lierature but around 25-28% O2 would probably be perfect - just for the last few days.- so many ideas - so few hours to experiment.
Bottle O2 is not cheap and has inherent dangers. I would prefer a concentrator.
