Day 2 of Easter 2014 Hatch Madness:

I have lost count of how many have hatched...LOL
I have about a dozen hatched from the first batch set to hatch 2 days early, none of the Easter batch has popped yet & I have another entire bator full set for the 21st that needs to find space in the hatcher. These chicks in Batch 1 better hurry up. Batch 3 needs the space!!! I am expecting to have 80-100 babies from the 3 batches once all is done.

I came home from work and have two pips! They are both in the wrong end, but at least one of them is chirping away.

I have 2 ee's out one more pipping, also 1 leghorn is really working it's way out. Pips in at least 3 other mutt eggs. I didn't expect them to hatch until tomorrow. 17 eggs set.

I had 5 speckled Sussex hatched this AM before I left for work. Expecting more when I get home. Do any of you take them out of incubator and put them in brooder before the others hatch? I don't want to hurt the eggs that aren't finished by opening too soon but I feel like the chicks that are out need room to walk without having to walk across and climb over eggs. My incubator was crowded

LOL...did your chick make it?

My chicks started hatching already,  not due until Sunday.  It seems like all of the Buff Brahmas are hatching early...is there a reason they would hatch before the others???

If you're asking me, my chick is still alive and happily (for both of us) snug in the incubator. I'm watching it carefully. I don't know if it can get out by itself.

I have FOUR chicks out now - 3 from the incubator and 1 out under the broody hen.

I actually had to assist the one from the broody just a teensy bit because the hen, who I think was a little caught off guard to have chicks hatching so soon (she has only been sitting for a week), accidentally stepped on the pipped egg and broke off a lot of shell, exposing a huge portion of membrane, which, when I checked on it later, had dried and stuck to the chick in a few places. So I just brought it inside, used Q-tips and warm water to dampen the membrane and make sure it was loosened, and then let the chick finish pushing itself out. It is a BO x BA (actually the egg from the broody BA who was sitting on it!) and it looks fine. I made sure it was pretty dried off and then returned it to the hen. The third incubator chick was also a BO x BA from a different hen. They are all Black in color with a tiny bit of goldish fuzz around the face. Will post pics later.

Currently have 14 more pips in the incubator, and 16 eggs that have not yet pipped. Didn't check the other 5 eggs under the broody.

Nothing from mine yet. day 21 doesnt start for me till 830 Saturday night though. no internal pips even. babies are moving though. :)

HELP!!!

Just had a chick hatch it was stuck in the shell. I did not help. But when it came out it was bleeding from it's behind. I waited to see if it would stop. I made the call and put a glove on, got a paper towel warm and corn starch. I quickly snatched it out and put corn starch on it's bottom and put it back in. My humidity is still good. But it's still bleeding a little. Not dripping. But I don't know what to do???

Chick is chirping and moving. Not leaving any blood trail anymore. Omg I am a total wreck. I don't know if what I did was the right thing. I went with my gut. :-(
