My results: 7 of 8 OE's and my one Wheaten Maran. The other three eggs don't look good now - so I'm probably done.

Are Maran's harder to hatch? I guess I should ask on the Maran thread.

It was fun!

7 more pipped!!!!! The 2 are silkies :) They are my shipped eggs. Yellow one has light skin...hmmm I hope the seller didn't have mixed breeds.

I have my final count. I have 40 fluffy butts out of the 75 I started with. I felt good in that 40 of 44 hatched from what went down at lockdown. I think that is the best hatch rate I have ever had. It was a longer hatch than I usually have also, from Thrusday night through Sunday night.

My hatching is finally done! I had 10 go into lockdown, and 7 hatched, all Olive Eggers. It was stressful, they all hatched on day 23! It was my first time in a hovabator, and it got unplugged 2x by the kids playing around it, so I think that's why they were late. My 7 year old said they wanted to wait to be Easter Day chicks! I had to help 2 out as they were big, plus membrane had dried on them and they were both stuck for hours after zipping (one couldnt move its wing, the other its neck). Now they're out but neither has fluffed up, and it's been over 12 hrs. Should I try a warm wet towel and some Ivory dish soap?

I have some really interesting colors in my grow outs right now. A lot of the that hatch yellow/white end up getting other colors in once they begin to feather. Even the ones that start out black have been getting color in them by the time they reach juvenile feathering. My daughter laid claim to a little black pullet from Athena's eggs that hatched in Feb. We thought she was going to be solid black, but each week we notice white tips on feathers in more places: chest & neck especially. She's almost starting to get a mottled look to her.

Hm.. Well I guess my temp was running low because mine haven't even pipped yet but there's still movement inside. Waiting game.. Those are 3 homegrown chicken eggs, by the way. And I was an idiot and forgot that ducks incubate a week longer (my first time incubating duck eggs, in my defense) and sat them with the chickens so those 3 aren't even due now until next Sunday.
None of my 10 quail hatched. :( Not a surprise, really. I've been trying constantly for months to hatch them without success..stupid homemade incubator..someone else was able to hatch some of the same (my) eggs, though, and had a great hatch.
