I agree about your little duck..I had to help one not a week ago..if you do help just help it out to the wings and look for yolk ..regardless just keep damp and he or she will wiggle the rest the way out when ready..I had one that pipped weird like that and then popped his head out. He was a little early so he.stayed half hatched for over a day. Just misted with a metal spray bottle I use for the duck eggs I keep in my hatcher...good luck

I'm sorry about the chick that was lost.
Overall it sounds like you had a pretty good day and are raising wonderful boys.
Yes we did overall. Thank you. I try my best to raise them right and I don't shelter them from much, just help them through the rough times instead. I think it makes them stronger people.
So happy that your day ended up a happy one. That's a lot of eggs! Did they all get found? lol..I have a daughter that put out a lot, and not all of them were found. Eventually I guess..lol...
Yeah they all got found. These kids dont leave anything lol. One of my boys ended up with 2 grocery bags and his bucket full and the other 1 grocery bag and his bucket!

I'm on day 4 of the new hatch and trying to watch my fertility, growth, and hatchabilty in my eggs very carefully. Right now I'm pretty focused on the fertility in particular, but also noting everything else to study the results. Looks like so far with all questionables counted as clears on paper that my fertility rate is about 82% for this roo and his ratio.
But my question is, what is an "acceptable" % for selling hatching eggs? I know you cant guarantee a hatch or fertility but what would you say is acceptable in your opinion to sell them fairly?

Well, I guess I'll call my first hatch a success? Started with 5 of my Bantam EE's. Bought 1 doz each of Partridge Plymouth Rocks, Splash Orpingtons, and a mystery mixed lot all from a local auction. Candled prior to setting and pulled 1 ea of the PPR's and Mysteries for cracks. Initial set in the incubator was 39. Day 10 candle I pulled 4 Blood rings (2 SO's, 1 Mystery, 1 PPR). Had 5 clears that I left in. Day 18 candle had 2 more blood rings(1 Mystery, 1 PPR). And pulled 3 clears (2 SO, Mystery). Put 30 into lockdown (5 Bantam EE's, 8 SO's, 9 PPR's, 8 Mystery). Started hatching fri morning, Final count is 8 PPR, 5 SO, 2 Mystery, and 2 Bantam EE for a total of 17 hatched. Learned quite a bit through out the process and look forward to getting the incubator cleaned out for the next set. Took lots of notes and have found some areas to improve upon. Thank You to everyone on this thread who offered help (both directly and indirectly by answering others questions). Now to take care of the 17 littles in the brooder.

Well, I've been way too busy to keep up with this way too busy thread or peer into my eggs for the last 3 weeks but my handy dandy Incubator Warehouse hatch timer tells me I have 10 hours and 57 minutes to go.

After one of my girls layed that really funky egg.she had a few soft shelled eggs, then thin shelled eggs and now she lays eggs like this. She is a production RIR .(one of my egg layers) I guess her body is getting back on track. Anyways I love the brown speckles on it . Even though the egg is not really brown anymore.

Here is one of mine that hatched last night and others The one chick takes the cake.Chocolate Cuckcoo Orpington Bantams. Nobody has these.
