oh, does the sand suck moisture from the air?  clueless on sand, I hate sand in my shoes thats all I know

More like the sand was damp when I put it in there. I have no idea how to dry it out

I could try paper towels or maybe covering the sand with shavings.

New sand will be damp and right now the sand is warming the eggs.

What can I do for this little ones vent? It has been like this since it hatched. It came out fast and I had to put it in a cup to absorb it's yolk. Now it just had poop stuck. I gently washed with warm water. It's acting totally fine. Eating and drinking. Of course now I put it back in the brooder and another chick went to peck it's vent. Ugh. Help please :-(

Maybe something like saran wrap or aluminum foil, if the paper towel gets damp from the sand it wouldn't be helping.

True but I'd worry about the foil cooking them

Mike has a great idea, use the plastic wrap from the kitchen, cover some of it, surface area is what ups humidity not depth, cut some of the top level out and it will reduce.    But your in lockdown so you need humidity right now, how high are you? 

Yeah I do but if I leave it fully closed it rockets to like 90%. Right now with the top partially open it's at 65% or so.
