Its middle of my Day 20 and I have had my first pip for almost 2 hrs now. However, its just a crack in the shell. I am posting a picture from Willowcreekfarm's website as an example. The crack on my egg is within the air-cell but its just not progressing. Its 9:30 Chicago time so I can still observe for at least 3-4 hrs if needed.

How long before I get worried? I don't see any movement or sound coming from the egg.

No worries it can still be many many hours before it progresses, possibly up to 24(sometimes more sometimes less). Sit on your hands and it will work on getting out, they need lots of rest while trying to break out of the egg.

If it looks like that, and it's in the air cell, you can go to bed, get up go to work or school, come home and it may have progressed some. It can take 20+ hours

There is no reason to worry. You will be confusing people though by showing a picture of an egg that is not yours. The egg in the picture above is pipped in the wrong place.

On day 20, the pipped egg may stay pipped until tomorrow morning when a different egg will have hatched first.

Take a deep breath! All is well and you will have chicks soon!

So I ended up with 231 chicks and one muskovy duckling not a great hatch but not horrible. I started with 388 eggs

i just spent the last 45 minutes with a dying baby chick. holding her and keeping her comfortable. I noticed something was wrong when she was layig down sleeping and didn't flinch or wake when the others pecked at her toes. I picked her up and she was limp. She died in my hands and threw up yellow foam before taking her last breath. So sad :-(

Get a baked potato, pop it over the spur and twist it off with some pliers. He will need to be separated from them until the nubs are healed but he will not be able to spur you or hurt the girls.

Look up the exact instructions.

Alternatively, you can trim them down with a Dremmel. I would use the dremmel my self.
Thanks. Will look this up.

I heard peeping under my broody! Yay!!! No head count yet, just glad she has at least 1 chick..

I'm going to try that with my wife, "I ended up with 231 chicks, not a great hatch rate", maybe she won't notice the number if I act a little disappointed.

I'm sorry.
