Here are a couple of pics of my 1st chic born at 9:30 this morning. She is a CCL and we have named her Hope. CCL experts can comment if we have sexed her correctly.

2 more CCL eggs have pips (Yeah!!!)
It does look like a girl and maybe its just the pics or that she isnt full fluffed up but her eyeliner isnt very dark and defined and from the bottom picture her back coloring looks off. Do you have a pic from above her? Is her chipmunk pattern very well defined? Im almost tempted to say it is a dark male

but more pics will help

I guess I will let her fluff up completely. She was bothering the other pipped eggs so I took her out and put in the brooder. I will post a new pic in a few hours.

Wow you got it and I even misquoted it. Send me a PM and I will let you pick some eggs.

For those that don't know, it is a Firefly reference. If you have never watched that series, take the time. It is the absolute best scifi-western.

Give it a few episodes too- I tried to get my husband to watch it and he said that them using their foreign alien language as cuss words made him think it was going to be cheesy- But it is really really good. Buffy the vampire slayer was my first look into Joss Wedon's shows and after i finished that someone suggested firefly, (and of course serenity) and the spinoff of buffy -"angel", and dollhouse. once you have watched some of his shows you can tell if you are watching something he had a hand in- he definitely has a "style" that works great, at least in my opinion. I feel like I heard a rumor that firefly was going to be resurrected? but I believe Whedon said it was not, in the same article. (sigh)

I justrecieved my Brinsea Spot check in the mail. But its not reading a temp it just has a letter L and the f for fahrenheit in the upper right corner is flashing. Im not sure how to get it to read the temp lol.
I just got one a couple of weeks ago. Not sure, if its the correct way to use it. But I leave the probe in all the time and turn on/off when checking and get a quicker reading. Otherwise it sits at low for a few minutes after putting it in the incubator. Then slowly creeps up to the right tempature.

May go ahead get some spare batteries and test them myself.

the spot check read temps in a narrow range. The L means the temperature is too low to read.

Put it into the incubator and let it warm up.

Check to make sure the battery is ok and not corroded though.

I set it in the incubator and good thing because the cooler bator was a few degrees too high. I checked to be sure the sopt check was accurate inside my hova bator and it was an exact match to the point degree.

My other hova bator I use as a hatcher seems to have been running 2 degrees too low :(

When I saw my internal pip I was soo nervous, and had to force myself to go to bed that night. Everything I had read said they should have at least a 2 day air supply in there, but my cells were very small. At 12 hrs. exactly I put a pip in, at 7 a.m. Then I waited the full 24 hrs. before starting the zip. Baby was out by 3 p.m. the following day, so 2 days after I found the internal pip. It never peeped until the last day.

This helps a lot! Thank you!
I was gone all day yesterday with two dogs that needed tumors removed. When I got home in the evening, I saw that this egg had an internal pip. So, I don't know how long it was like that. The air cell is a fairly normal size for the age. I went ahead and put a small hole into the air cell last night. About 1/8" hole. Should I make the hole bigger? I can't tell from the small hole if there is membrane over his nostrils or any other obvious problems. Today, I can still see his beak in the same position and alive. I probably don't need to do anything else until tomorrow. This one will be at 26 days tomorrow. How did you decide when to start zipping? Like you, I'm trying so hard at this point to get one to hatch! Some of the others are at 26 days today. a couple more have quit and a couple are still wiggling. I have no idea if they are in normal position to pip the air cell. At the San Diego Zoo's reproduction center for endangered species, they x-ray eggs at this point.

That's what we need to do!
Did you end up with one or two making it?
Thanks

Here are some pictures of the inside of the egg and the paper towel from where the baby hatched.

It seems to be normal from what I can tell and the 3 of them are kicking the remaining 4 eggs. The one pipped is having a fit.

@ronott1@Sally Sunshine anyone rise have any ideas as to why it was so wet?

Perfect!

It has already paid for itself.
