Lol I am just asking people around me that ive wanted eggs from to finish the amount i need plus i ordered a few east indie ducks from someone on here also do i put East Indies in on the day we put calls in or normal ducks??

Trying to get enough eggs for the hatch along to fill my little incubator without spending an insane amount of money is proving to be very difficult. I am going to have to do some quail eggs too if I want it full because they are the only cheap eggs I can find.

Yeah, eggs prices are insane right now. I was lucky enough to find someone here on BYC that's relatively close to me that either has what I'm looking for or can get them at a fairly good price.

I hatched some, and had them in the house for a while. They were fun.

Made a little place for them.

Getting bigger......

They don't get too big. :)

My DH put plexiglass around the bottom so they would not try to squeeze through, or
get seed on the floor. Worked out great.

Hatch rates will be lower for eggs older than 2 weeks. Shipped eggs should not be older than 7 days because of the added stress from shipping.

Older eggs will still hatch--I would not set eggs older than 30 days and if I did I would watch them very closely for rotting.

Thank you ron for this information!

We are OUT. :( Ricky - our barred rock Rooster died last night. SO, unless i go buy an adult rooster, we cannot set any eggs. :( Im bummed. I wanna hatch more eggs.

I'm already starting on my collection because I want a full bator of EEs and I only have three girls. I think your safe to collect from today forward like everyone else said. Its about time for most people to start collecting the nonshipped eggs anyways.
