My eggs that are being shipped are on their way.

The ones that I won during the New Yr.s HAL from Mitchaelf, and some silkie eggs. Boy, those eggs from Mitchaelf are beautiful. I hope those dark eggs aren't any different from other eggs to hatch. Heard that they can be. And his are dark! Just gorgeous!

Thank you, they are fascinating insects.

Cuties Nate!

Wow, that's amazing. I'd be in big trouble with a huge incubator like that.

I read a lot. I don't have a local Beekeeping Association, so mostly, I've learned by trial and error. There is a new beekeeping section on BYH.

If you can wait til Thursday, they will count.

How many eggs do you want to be able to incubate at a time?
OMG if I had that capacity I'd have to move to a bigger house. No self control here! -DB

Self control? I remember when I had no self control. Wait, it still happens a couple of times a yr.!

I want more land.

So very exciting!!!

Make sure you post some pics of those lovely eggs when they arrive.

get the advanced. The eco is cheaper but the advanced is all digital and so much easier to maintain than the eco. I had an eco and as long as the house was steady for temps, it was fine. Let the temp swing a few degrees and I'd have to fiddle with it to straighten it out.
Quote: If budget is an issue, I found one on Amazon that is reviewed on BYC as well. It has an auto-turner and also digital displays for humidity and temperature. Here is the Amazon link:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M0OK05E/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 . Not bad price if it works:) Anyone has experience with it. I already ordered a Brinsea but was thinking of ordering one of these as an overflow incubator (I have a feeling I will have more eggs that the Octagon 40 will take) or can be used as a hatcher as well.

I just happen to be starting a batch this weekend so I guess I'm in. I'm trying to see if I can get ANY of my own eggs to hatch. My rooster doesn't seem to be doing his job or is overwhelmed by the number of hens (he has 23 all to himself, lucky buzzard). I find very few fertilized eggs but enough that I know he's not completely infertile and I see him doing his business all the time. So I'm setting an entire incubator full in hopes of getting a few, plus a couple of eggs from my bantams and a dozen from another farm that are hopefully more apt to develop so that I get *something*. The incubator will be full at set, 41 eggs. It's running, everything in place, charts printed and waiting for the eggs. So I'll start with 41 and by day 10 will probably have *maybe* a dozen left and that's being optimistic. We'll see.

It is good having you here!

23 hens to one rooster is a bit high. He will come up with his favorites and never mate with others.

Can you cut the number down to 10 hens?
