Yes, I am familiar with Derry. We live in the middle of the lakes region, New Hampton. I love the barring on the chickens in your picture. The lighter one looks beautiful. We have a welsummer roo, an americana pure roo, a bunch of barred rock hens, a couple white rocks, a rir, a couple light red ones that lay dark dark eggs and a few black mixed hens with hair on their legs. As for my guineas...poor things. I got them to keep the ticks away. Maybe I can hatch out some eggs when they start coming in.
I have heard of New Hampton though I have never been there. You raise a nice assortment of chickens. I also raise an assortment of chickens to be my egg layers so I can have a colorful egg basket. Spitzhauben, Cochin, Olive Egger, Blue Copper Marans Black copper Marans a few mixed breeds. We have a quad of blue/splash silkies. And I raise 2 separate flocks of Cream Legabrs who I breed toward the proposed standard. The lighter barred male you see in my avatar is currently my main Cream Legbar breeding cock I use in my main flock. He is so handsome, such a wonderful breed.

Here he is in a frontal view

In this one he has frostbite on his comb and wattles the poor boy.

Wow! He is awesome. As for the frostbite it is the same for ours....never to be the same again. :( It was a ruff winter. Last year we had a baby moose born on our hill. We think they are still here. However the waist high snow is stopping us from looking around on the hill.

Good looking roo. My roo has only a blade for a comb because of frost bite. He seemed like it didn't bother him but I still feel bad. I'm moving in May and converting an old barn into a coop. Gonna have 4 times as much room as I do now for chickens(and afew turkeys). My plan is to run electric and a few heat lamps hopefully that will stop the frostbite. I've herd ventaltion is the key

I can't apologize enough. I'm out. I got extremely ill last week and couldn't finish the incubator rebuild and didn't want to start eggs in the LG. So my set # is zero. Sorry for the delay.
Hopefully I'll get it done by tomorrow and set the eggs I've been collecting.

So sorry Canoe..hope you are feeling tons better by now!

So sad. My duck died today. Found her in the pond. She was fine 4 hours ago. She had 12 eggs in her nest. Hasn't started brooding them. I only have 1 incubator. Can I put them in it even though they'll be a week behind the other duck eggs?

Any soap makers out there?
I just started out in the soap making this year when one of my children had a clear reaction to soap from the store.

Right now I'm looking into molds. Currently most of my soap batches are small 14-18 ounces of oils as I have not settled in on a recipe yet. I tried a silicone loaf mold but the sides bowed out yielding a trapezoid shaped bar. Right now as I'm just starting out, I would like mold recommendations that don't cost an arm and a leg. But not a pringle can either. Something reusable is a must. Not needing a liner is a plus too.

So sorry about your duck.

Yes, some people do staggered hatches. Just make sure you mark the different set dates and keep track of who is who. I did that with some chick eggs and they did okay. There are probably other folks who could give you more advice on best way to do it. You might check the other threads. There is probably one for staggered hatches.

Oh no! So sorry *hugs* I have had to separate my roosters from the hens a couple of times this year because they get too wound up and I don't want anyone getting hurt. Again, so sorry.
