Question for Marans hatchers: I can sort of see through on the candling but can't tell the difference between them and my regular non fertile eggs. How soon/long before you can see and know what you're looking at on Marans eggs?
Sometimes I can see veining if I look very close by the air cell. Try shining your light at the air cell from the side. But for mine, about 10 days I can see a definite darkening inside the shell. Then it's just watching to make sure that's getting bigger. If this is your first time hatching Marans, understand that you must be patient with them the whole way. Unless they smell, don't toss them. They will likely take longer to pip and zip than your other eggs.
