HEY:
I sold my crapbator.
We are buying a cabinet bator in May.
I have $200 to spare until then.
Im thinking of buying a hovabator 1588 to get me by....
What bator would u guys buy if u had a $200 budget????
Im buying something Thursday
Incubator warehouse has a nice one for just under $200 that has a clear top. It does not hold enough eggs imo but for smaller batches or as a hatcher it would be nice.

Quote: Yes hard boil and peel the eggsfirst then put them in a jar and pour mixture over them till the mixture coversthe eggs.
Pickling Spice? I've never seen it and this is the first I've heard of it. Next time I'm at the store I'll have to look for it. I peeled a dozen eggs this morning for part of the family breakfast. Can't say I would be much different than your girl. Just like your girl I ate the first couple I peeled.
Lol. This thread is the true MARCH MADNESS!
Forget college basketball. Fill out your chicken brackets
I'm so done with March Madness. We don't watch sports here and typically I just forget all about them. Then I get these glimpses into how much other people schedule their life around sports. Sometimes it is the all but empty Children's Museum. Sometimes its a person missing the majority of a birthday party. A few times it has been seeing people come to church with earbuds on so they can hear the game or leaving their muted wireless device on the chair next to them so they don't miss the sporting event. It is a bit surprising to me how important sports and some TV shows are to people.

Chicks are before and after March here but they can be a bit more fun to me.

I got a few more birds moved around and out of their winter quarters today. Now I have my 4 mallard ducks in their very own pen away from the other birds so I will know the very first day they lay an egg.
I had a broody Turkey but when I moved her and her nest to the broody pen, nope she no longer wanted anything to do with sitting on eggs. Then that night I noticed a hen was broody so she got moved too. She also changed her mind leaving 1 turkey and 1 hen in a pen both mad to be locked up. I tossed in the other 2 turkey hens I have in hopes that one of the broody birds will decide to sit and get it out of their system.

We just finished our first candle and pulled 12 eggs.
-5 SFH (7 remaining)
-2 F3 OE (5 remaining)
-5 OE (9 remaining)
(12 BCM remaining)

33 moving on

I just candled too! Yay! :celebrate.

Of 50 set, only one clear. So 49 are still scooting right along! Yayay!

I did find out that one of the FBMC eggs was upside down. :/ I moved it to the top layer, on its side. Can I fix this? The egg was marked with an x which means it spent a day on the top layer once before.

If it's not to late to be added, add me. I set some barred rock eggs on the 14th. Just happened to work out that I set them on the right day! I also set some Rhode Island Red eggs the next Thursday I think. They are suppose to hatch on the 9th. This is my first time hatching eggs in an incubator. Also I have a hen sitting on some eggs and I think they may hatch around the 4th as well! Good luck to all!

ok, just candled my eggs-of my 6 gray pheasant peacock eggs, 2 were blood rings and the 4 were clear, on the 18 special silkie eggs from top lines-most were clean and about 6 were blood rings- only 4 are good so far!! and out of the 8 lavenders only 1!!! on my personal eggs only a few were duds and no blood rings...

So I have a couple of questions.

1) If I set my eggs on the 12, is it too early to toss clears and/or quitters?

2) I only have one live egg. I am afraid that if I toss the rest, it will cause the temperature in the incubator to become more unstable. Should I at least keep the clears in there?

Thanks for any and all input.

I'm not sure of your situation but one chick cannot survive alone. I did this and all my adult hens killed my lonesome baby, if you can I'd sick some more eggs in
