So far...silkies, showgirls seem to be hatching a little early--also some Splash marans, yaaaay! 3 so far. Funny the splash always hatch before the blues and blacks. What?

I only have two left Lisa.

None of those others even started. I opened each one that I took out during the last week of candling. The two in there now? Who knows, one of the eggs has a very high air sac, the other not so bad..I want a splash sooo bad.
Do you by chance know someone in Vernon with Marans? I am getting some from him on the 8th to try again..blues. And, OE's. I hope they do better..they should, he is bringing them to my house!

Some were 3 days early, some are peeping and some are pending.
So hoping that I get these two to hatch that are left now. All of the others were clear the whole time. These are dark with air sacs. One, not the best, but..who knows? I am crossing my fingers.

Have to add...good luck to you. :)

Wow! That sucks! Well if all you see is the air sack you might still have a chance. Fingers crossed and good luck!

Two is all? So sad! The Blue X Blue can give you splash, right? I hope you get some. If not I will need to fix that.

I have not sold to anyone there (Vernon) nor received from anyone there that I can think of. The guy delivers?? Hang on to that one! Some of my OE's are pipping...a few more marans...but it is a silkie extravaganza in my front room the little guys and gals are screaming to high heaven. No sleep here tonight, nope! It is music to my ears though, just glad to see some hatch in numbers finally. I just set 40 SG/Silkie eggs Monday in the open bator, after tossing the duds at lockdown on the three bators they were combined to two bators...so of course that third one needed a little attention...LOL. A few Marans and OE's too of course. Getting SBEL eggs to set Saturday after these other two bators empty out and will put more of everything else I collect between now and then in there, hehe, I am **hoping** I will be getting fertile eggs from my new marans roo and hens, because they were all unfertile for the longest time now. I saw two bullseyes yesterday but I don't want to waste/crack any more open, I am just going to put them in and cross fingers. :fl Of course, my silkies and showgirls are promptly going broody, one by one, over the last few days.

ron! For those still watching their temps, take note. For those that have chicks hatching early..., they will be ok, they will be ok...
This says countinuously..wonder what happens with the temps going up and down? Had that happen a couple of times.

Oh, I did not complete the thought very well.

If they hatch early, do not leave them in the incubator for a long time and get them some vitamins, like save a chick, rooster booster or similar. Electrolytes would help too.

Just candled at lockdown. Had to pull two that were way too clear to have developed. I opened them and they had not developed at all. No veining or anything, so most likely infertile. One of the four I have left doesn't look as developed as the others, but still a lot of shadow. So I have 3 or 4 I'm hoping will hatch. Filled the reservoir in my mini advance, pulled the auto turner wheel out, put down some paper towel, and placed the 4 back in air cell up. Fingers crossed we will have a couple new peeps soon. Good luck everyone. Don't let the anxiety keep you up ALL night. Lol. And, happy hatching!

Nope. Fourth hatch. They've all been wretched. The first one, I did exactly as the instructions stated, and got one out of seven. Since then, I have learned not to trust the temp settings on the incubator (it runs 2 degrees high) and that it holds humidity too well, which is ironic as I live in the desert. I am very frustrated, and I don't know if it's my ineptitude, or the incubator. I keep hoping there will be an "ah ha" moment, where I figure out what is going on. The eggs develop, but don't hatch. But, it's gotten closer each time. Maybe this time I will crack the code. It just doesn't seem like it should be this hard. I have it stable again, for now. Both sides are filled, but the well is covered. This seems to be keeping it below 70% humidity, which seems to prevent the temperature drop. Four of the eggs that are in it now are the product of the roo and hen that I did manage to hatch out of it, the only ones who made it out of the shell. Hopefully, they will pass on their survivor genes.

i would put it with the other. i was telling @domesticzoo yesterday of one of my australorp broodies that stepped on an egg anc crushed it before it pipped. it seemed to have hatched alright :) i would just watch it for movement
Can I add my two cents here? I would advise anyone in this situation to watch the chicks carefully for the first few days. I had two eggs last year that got stomped on by rowdy hens a few days before hatch. The chicks were both sluggish and acted like they didn't feel well. Both died within a couple of days :(

Interesting on the splashes. And yaaay, babies!

:( I'm sorry. I wish I had Marans now so I could give you some eggs.

I'm sorry. I sooo understand how you feel! I have had rotten results with my hatches since I've started, and unfortunately I think it's ineptitude on my part. Hang in there. It is frustrating, but you will get it! :)

1 little silver silkie mutt hatched today. Little red markings around his face. He's pretty cute. He? She? Whatever. So that's 19 days right there.
