I'd love to participate, but....I'm at 5 roosters now. Will someone please tell me what they do with extra roos besides cull them? Any suggestions? I try to rehome them with no luck. Nobody wants them. If someone could promise all hens haha I'd love to hatch again!

For me personally I cull all extra males at 14-16weeks of age and they get put in the freezer to feed my family. I do also sell males to others for pets flock protectors or for meat also at other times, usually for about $5-10 each. If you don't have the heart to do it yourself there should be local farms or poultry processors that will do it for you for a small fee. A good place to ask would be your states thread here on BYC or also you could post a want ad on craigslist.Sorry I don't really know what to tell other than cull. Craigslist maybe: usually free for the pickup someone will usually take them.
I myself will cull before they get too old, and just keep hatching. If you don't then you'll never get the hens you want.
Do you have a small animal auction near you? There is one about 20 miles from my house in California.I'd love to participate, but....I'm at 5 roosters now. Hi Susan! It's me (ellekaysoap) I use Craigslist a lot for extra roosters. I also have a guy that will take any extra rooster I have. Sometimes we put them in the freezer if I don't feel they are worthy to rehome. (the jerks) During the spring/summer if you have a Tractor Supply or places like that have animal swaps where you can usually get rid of extra roosters or maybe someone may be looking for one. Some people have "bachelor pads" for extra roosters if they have the space. I don't have that option but I know the guy I give my extras to has a pen just for the extra boys. Good luck! I know it's a pain especially if you have some sweet boys.I'd love to participate, but....I'm at 5 roosters now. Will someone please tell me what they do with extra roos besides cull them? Thanks for your honest reply. I have a porcelain D'uccle roo, a Sicilian buttercup roo and a polish roo. I can breed both the porcelain and the polish if I had takers but would like to rehome the Sicilian buttercup for sure. For me personally I cull all extra males at 14-16weeks of age and they get put in the freezer to feed my family. Often listing extra males on craigslist for free will get you many takers though many times they are looking to finish raise them for meat also. Sometimes if your lucky people are looking to give them a forever home.
What breed males do you have available @LUVMYCHIKAS
?
Hi Shawnette, Thanks for your reply! I've asked around at the local tractor supply store and I've never known them to have a swap of any sort. However, we have another farm supply store (not as close by) that is not a chain store and may have more info. I've have advertised the roos but not on Craigslist. I need someone dependable like your fella. Too bad we aren't closer to each other!Hi Susan! It's me (ellekaysoap) I use Craigslist a lot for extra roosters. The only farm auction that include Chickens closed up last year. I haven't heard of another. I drove over 2 hours last summer to go to a poultry swap that turned out to be very small, about 4-5 people with chicks. A bit of a disappointment.Do you have a small animal auction near you?
