After two weeks, eggs stored in the fridge hatch better if they were stored with the big end up.
Really? That's so cool, I didn't know that!

I was being dislexic--It is 15 days big end up out of the fridge and then in the fridge after that small end up.Really? That's so cool, I didn't know that!![]()
lol I don't know where that post went ya there my silkie eggs I just want it to be done perfect as I can I've hatched 8 eggs before just to test my bator and knowledge and all 8 hatched even tho 5 were roos lol but these eggs make me nervous thank youIt depends on your personal preference.
I don't wear any but I do wash my hands after I'm done handling them.
However, if the eggs are a rare type of poultry/bird then I would advise washing your hands BEFORE handling them to prevent extra bacteria from coming in contact with them.
Latex gloves would be quicker than washing but I'm a "tightwad" and don't want to spend the extra few dollars.![]()
I just couldn't resist!!![]()
You almost don't want to scratch it since it is so darn cute!!!!

Yes, you did very well!I have a broody and today was her 21 days. It is a first time for both of us.
She got off her nest this morning and someone else got in and laid an egg. She was only sitting on 2 eggs anyway. In the mean time, she found a nest box full of eggs laid today and is now sitting on them. I candled the eggs she left and 1 of them is moving, has a good air cell and has good veins. It still needs to absorb some yolk and then will be ready to hatch in a day or 2. The other is a dud. I put the good one under her in the new nest box with the new eggs. Is this what I should have done? She accepted it right away.
