Well I am sick to my stomach ! I checked on my Temp and the display on my new F I Pro Series reads 100.5. I have two acurite thermometers in there and one read 108 and the other 109. And the worst part the high on each one read 127 and 120.
What's even worse is last night I took a picture through the window of all the thermometers like I have been doing which makes it easier to read. BUT I only looked at the thermometer display on the Bator which has held steady at 100.5. I see now that the spike happened sometime yesterday or ??????
I've been sick and of course Sat night I did t go to bed until 6 am Sunday Am.....with all this egg setting eggcitement.
I don't know whether to be ****** off or sad or both....Guess I am both. Not to mention I spent a lot of money on shipped eggs.
Even sadder I was in town (while the spikes were no doubt happening) buying another incubator cause I thought $94.5 was a good price for a digital Bator with a turner and fan. Oh and it doubles as an egg cooker ! Put a call in to FI. There going to call back. They said it is a new Bator no complaints yet. I'm first.

Yay! Chickies!

Oh and Happy St Patrick's Day!

My turner (holds 41) wasn't doing anything for the 9 eggs on top so I've started turning them myself. When you guys rotate your eggs around in the bator, is there any rhyme or reason to it?

There are several methods. I like to make three different marks, or number 1, 2, 3, spaced evenly around the egg. Then I put the like marks up and when I rotate them, I just turn them all the same. I also make sure that if the number three was up during the night, another number is up the next night. Many people put an x and an o and just turn them to the opposite side.

Thank You ALL for the warm welcome to the group!
Our residents are not newbies when it come to chickens, most of them raised during the depression of the 1930's, had chickens as children and truly are taken back to special place in time each time we hatch chicks. here is an excerpt from our up coming newsletter:

4th Annual Easter Hatch
continued from pg. 1

We will also have some fun along the way.
All the eggs have been numbered so that we can guess which egg hatches first. Each resident can fill out one card (next to the incubator) Write your name, and the number you think will hatch first and place it in the box provided. There will be prizes for the first 3 eggs choosen to hatch.

After all the chicks are hatched we will have our “ Chick Naming” contest. On a different card provided write your name and your best “Chicken Name” and place it in the box provided. The same number cards will be drawn randomly as chicks in the brooder box. Winners will have their pictures taken with chick that they named!

GOOD LUCK!

When I clicked on this photo, and read the name of that chick, it brought tears to my eyes..really. Look at that sweet man. I love the old folks. Used to work with them.

Yep! I did once i found it. But im kinda worried i messed up the eggs. Ive already turned them 3 times in the bator with the detatched cells....

I just start turning, not one to always check the eggs right at first. I might a few, but not usually..didn't this time. I have some shipped eggs too.

@Puddin Fluff Nice looking girl! Looking forward to seeing pics of what you get!
Me too! She will be hatching (hopefully) Phoenix, Phoenix over Dorking, Phoenix over Favorelle and possibly Phoenix over bantam cochin. It should be interesting to see what pops out if anything. We run a mixed flock so the mix should be interesting. I am not sure how I will know the Phoenix from the Phoenix/Dorking mix since they are pretty much the same colors as chicks except the legs. I probably won't know until they grow out, and then still

Uuuuugh, that just is awful. I have that same incubator on order as well. I am only running it as a hatcher this time though. I will be sure to run it for a week before I put anything in there. I am so sorry that you had this happen.

I haven't posted much but have been trying to follow along.

So far everything was going good. Last night well actually at Midnight I went to bed and everything was fine. Temp & humidity great. Then

. I shut the door to the room the bator is in last night and we got a cold snap.

The room gets cool when the door is shut and I didn't think about the wind cold coming. The good news is It only took 20 minutes to get the temp back up but I know I'm going to worry about it in the back of my mind for the next 19 days!

@wornoutmomto3 Too Funny!!! Love it. I have passed up chicks 4 times in the last week. Don't know how long it will last.

@Puddin Fluff Nice looking girl! Looking forward to seeing pics of what you get!

@Wisher1000 Nice! EEs Cool! What will you do with all of them? I'm looking for a few chicks to add. My only EE lays brown eggs.

I wish you were closer! Lol!

I have an LG and on cool nights I have to put a kitchen towel over it to keep temp. I am up a few times a night with my daughter so I always check on it. But that way it maintains temp and I take it off in the am once the house warms up.
