How about if your blue egg looks like this. Do you still set it? I am pretty sure its a double yolker Also, oddly enough we bought some strawberries today and found this in the box. This cannot be natural, so I am not letting my kids or chicken eat these strawberries
my EE Sugar lays a long pointed egg like that every day. She's my "torpedo launcher" lol

Don't give up on them. I have Mottled Houdan in there right now and almost threw them out at day seven because i didn't see any life. They were shipped eggs and took a long time getting here. Then today (day 10)  I looked again and WOW they all have big healthy embryos growing!

Would Love to know where you found Mottled Houdans? I am working with them and all I can find are McMurray lines, or some from a University in the Midwest..keeping eyes peeled for some new bloodlines if they can be found. Any leads would be great!

Quote: Thanks, but I don't have a Swedish drake. The mallards were a stroke of luck. They showed up in a friends barn with no momma duck. They were just out there waddling around some full size turkeys. I ended up with one drake and though it might be fun to breed them and see how they hatch. I'm not really a duck person. Still my DH enjoys duck eggs. So long s I don't have to wash the eggs I'm almost ok with a few but still they are so messy.

I forgot my pencil when I was collecting the eggs so I THINK I have
Light sussex 16
Pekin 44
Welsummer 4
Silkie 22
White star x Light sussex 26
Warren (I think you call them production reds) 19
Lavender crosses 7
Wyandotte 1

Total 139 (if I have counted correctly)

This is what we have to come!!
Excited already!
(I put this on the cute baby photo comp page but I don't count as I am in England).
I just like to share

Thanks! Wow this is a busy thread. No way I can keep up with everyone!

Is it too late to announce our status & predictions for the HatchAlong? We have 7 incubating (started them the 16th) & predict we'll hatch 4 by Easter Sunday. This is our first time ever incubating eggs, so we'll be thrilled if any hatch!
