Welcome! :D

Silver duckwing over black creates black as well... actually the technical color for both crosses is 'gold duckwing patterned black', but to the eye it just looks black...

is that the black with the gold tones on the neck feathers?
I'm not even sure if he's a duckwing....labeled quail as a chick

No, that's a different color... would have to see it to be able to tell (the gold tone on neck one)... the crosses should look solid black, but that is if they are pure...

Hmmm... he kinda looks like silver duckwing, but I'm not sure... pattern is off a bit... don't think he is quail though, that is a totally different color... I'll look for pics of mine, give me a min... :)

Would Love to know where you found Mottled Houdans? I am working with them and all I can find are McMurray lines, or some from a University in the Midwest..keeping eyes peeled for some new bloodlines if they can be found. Any leads would be great!

A couple years ago, I had some nice Houdans that we got as chicks from Ideal. Of course, I'm not sure where they get them....

@Chrysolinsbirds not the best pics, but 1st one is a young cockerel at 3 months (note solid black chest) and him again at 5 months...

Total eggs that we set = 49

I was waiting to see if we would set any quail eggs, but that's not happening.

In the incubator are;
9 Guineas
15 Seramas
18 shipped bantam Ameraucanas

and 7 Runner ducks under silkie broodies!
