OK so I just candled! I have 2 seramas growing (another is iffy) I have 0ne iffy of mine, and 3 that died. so of mine, disincluding the iffy ones, I have 19 eggs that look good. of my 12 seramas, I have two that look good  I just tossed 4....and im hoping for the best hatch possible....so right now I think 21 that MAY look ok

Hope they all do okay!

Raz..my kids were brought up with the classic rock stuff too. I have a daughter that just loves the 70's, and some of the 80's songs. They were stuck in the care with me..and my music was played loud at home when I had it on.

This is what you do when you get 25+ eggs a day and cannot even give them away fast enough. Make two gallons of pickled eggs = 8 dozen gone.

Recipe needed!! I'm serious.

3 tablespoons Pickling spice 2 cups vinigar, 1 cup water. Bring mix to a boil cool and pour over peeled eggs covering them. Add fresh chopped garlic and dill. Add hot peppers if you want a little kick. Let set in fridge for a week then enjoy. Just that simple.

Funny thing, I refused to listen to more modern stuff until I was about 10. By then I was listening to music with my brother.

Welcome back! Day 7 is coming to a close and, as promised, we are candling the eggs for the first time. First up is Contestant #1, Mom. It would appear Mom will be using the light on the back of her iPhone for this candling. Not sure that is the best of... oh... ugh... ouch. Okay, we take it back. Contestant #1 has just shined the light in our eyes to prove that it is plenty bright enough. She is picking up the first egg... she studying it... waiting... It's good. Their is a chick growing in there. Oh, this is exciting. She has another egg... she doesn't look happy about this one. Oh, it is a "ring of death.' That is too bad. A chick was beginning to develop. but something happened and the chick died. A devastating blow. She has another and another and another... They are looking good so far. Oh, wait, I spoke to soon. It would appear that the only silver sebright egg in this hatch is completely clear, very upsetting I am sure. She continues with the candling at a steady pace. Wait, she seems to be double checking a few. Oh, wow she triple checked that one. Those Maran eggs are very dark and the phone light doesn't seem to be penetrating those shells very well. She is finally finished, folks, and there are a few losses. To recap, contestant #1 started with 26 eggs. After this candling 3 were lost to the "ring of death," 1 was clear. and 9 were uncertain due to darker pigmented shells. Mom may need to invest in a higher powered flashlight before the next candling. Up next is Contestant #2, DSx3. They will also be using Mom's phone for this candling. There are only four eggs to be candled, but only three count for these young men. They have the first egg. Wow! The light is barely touching that egg and I can see the veins from here! Now they have the second egg... very prominent veining and some movement. There is a chick in there! The excitement is mounting as the third egg is being candled. If this one also shows development than these young men will be holding onto that coveted 100%. And... wait for it... yes! There are veins! WooHoo! They are now checking the fourth mystery egg. This eggs is a complete mystery and was placed in the incubator a few days after the competition had begun. The darker shell seems to be giving them some trouble... This egg will stay a mystery for a bit longer. The pigmentation of the shell and the lack of sufficient lighting leave the viability of this egg undetermined. Finally we have Contestant #3, wait a minute... no... there will be no disturbing Amber the broody hen. A fierce growl emanating from this hen has succeeded in sending the Judge packing in fear for his hand and especially his fingers. There will be no messing with Mama Hen tonight. It would seem that candling these eggs will not be happening. We will just have to wait and see what comes from these eggs. There you have it, folks. We have experienced the success of a homemade incubator, the loss from a store bought incubator, and avoided loss (of fingers) with a broody hen. So awesome!! My family gets so eggsited for the "get ready set" and then I'm all alone till the first pip. Then it's a waiting line to see what happens. Kinda like me waiting to see the next show on "INCUBATOR WARS"

Disappointment with my shipped eggs. It is day 8. Only 1 seems to be developing. 2 blood rings. The rest look like quitters. All the air cells are detatched. The ones from my hens are looking great so nothing to do with the incubator. I have more shipped eggs arriving Monday. I almost dread it.

that is the way, i have had 0% development on all shipped eggs and 100% (not hatch though). my 193$ gray pheasant peacock eggs=1 bld rng, 1 developing and 4 clears...luck of the draw..

YIKES!!!!!!!!! THATS A NEW LITTLE GIANT DIGITAL INCUBATOR......
I can guarantee that incubator will come in last place. Regardless. U will be lucky if anything hatches out of that thing. Im wishing you the best of luck....but dont expect anything to hatch

It can be temperamental and needs regular monitoring, but I can't afford a nicer one. My last hatch with it, got me 24 out of 24 in lockdown and 17 successfully hatched. It would have been higher, but I didn't put the sensor back in place after pulling out a chick that was bowling over the remaining eggs. Thanks for the well wishes.
