My pregnancy was so different with my 2nd son, I was convinced he was a girl.

As others have said, Target has them.

Veining can look like a blood ring sometimes.

Welcome!

With dark eggs, you just look for the "dark area" inside the egg to get larger.  By Day 18, it should be all dark, except for the air sac.

Yes, the blood will recede from the veins if it dies.  Embryos sleep sometimes too, so don't be worried if you candle and don't see movement.

Thank you that helps a lot! So mine are all nice and healthy

Does anyone here have any creative ideas to ID chicks after they hatch? Like, to keep the different breeds seperated yet keep them all together. Something I've found that works pretty good for me is as they hatch, I grab them and use a dab of nail polish on their toes. Different colors for different breeds (heck I hover over the bator on hatch day lol). Then, before the nail polish wears off (usually a couple days) I take some of those little colored bands that all the kids are making bracelets out of, double them over once and slip them on a chicks ankle. They're plentiful in our house. My daughter has a ton of them and they work wonderfully! Nowhere near tight but not lose enough to fall off. I have pure Marans hatching and babies that are 1/4 brahma and 3/4 Marans. They really look alike and this works great. Anyone else have quick ID methods?

I use little colored zip ties. You can use combinations of colors to identify large hatches. The ties need to be cut off as the chicks grow and when they are grown, use colored and numbered bands to identify them.

What you do is get the zip ties started leaving a loop big enough to get the foot through and then tighten up the tie. With practice, you can apply the zip tie with one hand while holding the chick with the other.

I'm out. A friend of DH was over with his kids this weekend and they were not adequately supervised (I was not home) and one of them turned up the incubator to 120 and cooked everything inside. I am super bummed because there were 13 project eggs in there that it took me 2 weeks to collect.
Are you absolutely sure the kids did it and not the DH?
