The 6th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

It's day 21 and I woke up to 6 chicks in the bator. Moved 3 out to the brooder and the rest are getting fluffy.

 One of the silkie eggs hatched. Clean legged and 4 toes.   It's a cute little thing!

Ack! I have the best terrible problem. My friend who randomly sent me eggs didn't just send a few eggs. Not just a dozen or 18... He sent 30 eggs!!! I don't know where to put them. My Brinsea is full for 2.5 more weeks. My homemade bator is being used as a hatcher right now, but I don't have room for 30 eggs in there! If they were home eggs maybe, but shipped that have to sit upright? No! What is a gal to do except buy another incubator?

Yes and hurry, wouldn't want them to go to waste!

The pip on my other silkie egg is bloody. It's still moving around, but I don't have high hopes for it. :/

I have that problem too. The Egg farmer that I hatch for keeps bringing eggs for incubating.

I am considering a cabinet incubator--maybe a Dickey!

Came home at lunch to check on my eggs. 3 of 4 have hatched. Not going back to work now. Lol. The Jersey Giant x Welsummer chick that has hatched is black on black on black. I'm interested to see how she grows up.

*Note to self for future hatches: remember to place eggs with big end out at lockdown. I keep having to resist opening the incubator to flip them around so that I can see the (hopefully) pips sooner.

About halfway through Day 19. I'm seeing 2 external pips and one 1 internal so far. The malpositioned chick that pipped in the middle of the shell seems to have made a little bit of progress and tiny shell fragments at the pip have fallen off.
