The 7th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-A-Long!

I was going to build one but my husband bought one instead. Just the opposite on the coop. I thought buying one was smart but no... He wanted to build one. So we did and guess what just happened... I LOCKED MYSELF INTO IT A FEW MINS AGO!

Had to make an unorthodox exit.

Good thing the wife isn't on here often. She might get ideas of locking me in the coop instead of the doghouse lol.

I'm just glad we hadn't secured the wall that well. We are going to add some hardware cloth so we only put a few screws into each side for now. I had to bust my way out then secure it before the birds got out.

Do hovabators hold temp better? After some thought, I think temp is the problem. I can't babysit the LG bator as I work.
The Genesis 1588 holds temperatures well. They will have problems if the room temperature swings from high to low too much and too quickly. I have a space heater that I use--with a thermostat--when hatching in the winter to even out the temperatures.

My Brinsea Ocatagon does much better--it is made out of plastic.

Well, that egg I found yesterday wasn't the first one laid. I wasted a perfectly good egg on the cats.

I gave them the real first egg today. And I wonder why they follow me from pen to pen.

3 eggs on a shelf behind the roosts.

Trust me... I am laughing "with" you not "at" you. That sounds just like something that would happen to me. The problem is I am 5"10" and well lets just say heavy.. The hole it would take to get me out would have to be huge.. Ha Ha

Forgetful I love your Wyandottes. I have three Silver Penciled Bantam Wyandottes that I am head over heels about. Argent the roo, Wyanona the hen, and Dotte the pullet. They are currently in the quarantine area because I just bought them. I also got a Sapphire pullet with them and it has been interesting watching the calming effect that the Wyandottes have on the flighty half Leghorn. Her comb is reddening significantly and I may just have to hatch out some of her first eggs with Argent as the daddy before I put her with the Olive Eggers.
