The 7th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-A-Long!

Fowl Stuff sells silver ameraucana chicks. That's one of my dream breeds/ varieties. I put in an order and should hopefully get my chicks a little later this spring! I'm very excited!
I've been out of town visiting family, but I'm going to get working on my wine fridge incubator project when I get home! :)

Mine too!! I had an order with fowl stuff two years ago, but the order fell thru. I actually just got ahold of a breeder in NC that says he can ship in 5 weeks or so, I am happy with that! Fingers crossed it all works out!

OMG THANKS I will probably order some from them.
You're welcome! I hope they can give you what you need found them on my local craigslist. If you order from them where are you located? Let me know how you like their service and packing etc.
My husband came home this morning with a bundle of fresh greens for my birds and a Fitbit for me

He knows what works. Not sure about that Fitbit but it looks cool.
Okay what is a fitbit? And as far as the treat for the birds I'd say he knows the way to your heart! :)
My Isbars are not cuddlebugs, but they are not flighty. If I have treats, I need to watch where I step. I also have never had an aggressive Isbar rooster. I would definitely recommend this breed to those with young children without concern. Awesome! Idk where I would get some but I would definitely love to try out a couple pullets including a roo as I have young nieces nephews and cousins not to mention pets and myself. Sadly our main roo and only lf roo at the moment is going to be culled after collecting eggs for the hatch-a-long. He's beautiful and great with the girls but goes after my Mom and I. I guess we just got a bad strain but I want to stop it before he escalates to causing actual harm, his spurs are getting sharper. We plan to hatch some of his chicks as an experiment (he's a silver laced wyandotte) to grow out and see if the aggression passes on in his line or not, also to see if we can improve on their lacing as he is a bit light and we have a couple pullets that are a bit dark. All of his chicks will be monitored and any that show aggressive tendencies will be culled for the freezer. We have an English Orpington roo lined up that we are getting as the weather warms to give a chance to so I have hope. We'll just try until we find one or two lf roos that can coexist peacefully in our flock with the silkie roo and the oegb roo we are keeping. How terrible! :hugs I know it is just awful when the cat walks on the keyboard and posts a winning bid for me. :th  I keep her Greenies on hand for just those occasions. My next excuse for ordering on eBay! ;)

Oh Yay!!! So what all did you get? And what feed store BC that is quite the assortment.
Sounds better than my valentine's day. My chihuahua thinks it's funny to chase my only bantam across the yard. Had to stitch her leg in 2 places and her right shoulder. Dog got in trouble, but think I'll try to rehome/trade the poor little Japanese bantam pullet so she doesn't get hurt again.:hit She's okay, luckily-happily pecking away at scrambled egg in the brooder. (the dog is smart, though; he leaves the full-size chickens alone: got pecked on the nose by them one too many times)
I'll be honest I like most animals but I've never met a chihuahua I really liked my Grandma has one and she's food aggressive and naughty and stubborn and like to chase the cats. Now I'm not saying that's all the dog's fault but I would watch her with the lf too. As for the Japanese hen, poor baby, where are you located? I hope you find her an awesome home.
Ya, but all they said was. Make them by yourselves, and I said I don't have a SS, and they said, well than get one... ER mah gawd...
Sorry Nate. Idk where you are but there is someone on the Illinois thread that bought a bird from a feed store thinking it was a jubilee orp pullet but now they think it's a SS cockeral and I think she'd be willing to give him to a good home.

:thumbsup  :highfive:  Way to go! We can build our big ones together. I am thinking of splitting mine top and bottom, with the incubator on the top and hatcher on the bottom. You could have one side be incubator and the other be a hatcher. ;)
I was originally planning on a top and bottom set up like you mentioned but decided I wasn't sure due to the complication of staggered hatches and humidity. This one doesn't have a divider for each side but either door slides open. That's another part of the reason I haven't started is I'm still trying to figure out the layout to go with. It's gonna be a lot bigger than my LG Styro. The details will work themselves out when I get a chance to sit down and do some thinking and get it started.

So one chick finally out of the shell. And more pips and chirps going on heavily right now. Will post pics when a few more hatch! To bad I have a guy buying these right away. Won't get to hang with them for long. At least I have 30 other chicks almost two weeks old. Pure breeds to had to the flock. So there not going anywhere. After these hatch got to drop 50 more eggs I been collecting. Orders are coming in non stop. Isn't raising chicks fun!! And it only gets better with spring!!

A Fitbit is a wrist watch like device that keeps track of my steps, heart rate, how I slept at night ect. Oh it also... Tells time and has an app for more things that syncs with the device. I have wanted one sense they came out because the dr says I need to lose some weight after my auto accident. Getting hit by an 18 wheeler really increases the time you can spend with the chicks

but your weight increases due to inactivity. Not that I suggest it. It hurt.
