Hoping this Pemier 1 brooder plate will be WAY cheaper to use than this 250 watt heat lamp. Also ordered a couple stock tank de-icers for my bucket waterers so i can quit with the constant 70 watt bulb i'm using now.

Chickens ? EE, OE, BCM, Lav Orp, a Porcelain D'Uccle , and a bunch of mixed. 31 adults(including 6 roos) and 27 in the brooder. So at present 58 but i plan to hatch for the EHAL also.

I'm so sorry about your Ecoglow failing, what a hassle!! So far, my first heating plate is working out great and it's a Premier1. Other than all the chicks hiding under it - it's like an empty brooder when I first walk into the room, then as I stand there quietly, they come back out.My second eco glow is failing now so I will likely be getting another premier1 plate next month. This time the wire broke next to the brooder plate. The wire is too small!
