What's the hardest part oh hatching? Waiting to candle? Or watching your hatched chicks play soccer with your other pipped eggs? Mine are playing soccer right now takes everything I can not to open it and grab the fluff balls.

Candled last night on day 4:

Incubator from attic: 4 clear, 2 iffy so put back, so leaves 57 good ones
Dry hatcher: 4 clear, leaves 27 good ones (& 100% on OEs

This also means I started with 92, not 91, sorry!

I can handle waiting to candle, it's when the hatch is close that I start pacing and getting antsy. Just like this

I hatch mine in trays or egg cartons. They never play hockey with them, just sit on the eggs sometimes.

It is definitely harder to watch chicks moving pipped eggs around the bator. I think I am going to look for little plastic baskets or something to put eggs in when they hatch and line them with paper towel or matting of some sort.

For me... the first 18 days of waiting are my least favorite. Lol. I get excited for lockdown and knowing the reward is near... it's all the days waiting for that moment that make me impatient

Candled a few, great development in the ones I checked. Will wait to candle them all to toss clears a little longer.



Didn't get any candling pics tonight, but I did get pics of my 3 week old coturnix chicks from the silver hatch.

Heads are just starting to feather in. They are growing fast and getting so big!

Here are photos including a couple non-silvers from that batch. They just got done playing in their water, so a little wet, but grabbed some photos anyway. LOVE these guys!

Both, but mostly waiting to candle I guess. Cause usually I cheat and take the babies out as soon as they hatch

Waiting for them to hatch.... I start getting antsy before 24 hours have passed...
I don't have much trouble with candling obsessively... YET.
I can't tell you if the actual hatch part is stressful for me yet, because I have not had a sucsessful hatch yet... But I am hoping this batch might be.
