She is very strong I do think she it a lone survivor but I am gonna give the other eggs until the end of the day tomorrow, Gonna set one more set before the Easter Hatch, we wanted to do silkies for Easter but we need a few more layer hens first. Only ended up with 3 chicks out of 11 eggs.....

SHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! Don't tell the hubby but I am kind of excited he is letting me do another hatch right away

Congrats!

You could hatch a couple silkies with your layers. I've done that under a broody hen and in an incubator and they actually do quite well.

HYGROMETER &
THERMOMETER SUGGESTIONS.......

you may want to pick up a hygro/thermo that has a high low temp reading on it as well... that way you can see what it swings to at night.

READ what the accuracy is on the one you want to purchase FIRST (example: Accuracy to ±0.9°F (±0.5°C))

READ what increments the temperature tracks!! (example: reads to 0.1ºF NOT 1.0ºF)

AND MAKE SURE its Switchable between ºF and ºC. or whitch ever you need!

Is it calibrated or can it be calibrated?

I haven't used a hygrometer in a long time. I weigh the eggs periodically as an alternative.

The Egg-O-Meter has a sensor that is embedded in a synthetic egg which closely reflects the temperature of a real egg.

The temperature sensor is embedded inside a synthetic egg which more accurately resembles the thermal mass of the eggs you are incubating.

Being in a family of eight must make me use to loud sounds. Lol.

We have a large family too..just getting used to not having so much noise. 12 kids between the two of us. The last baby just got engaged. Now, it's just me and my DH. Noise? Hmmm, do lots and lots of grandchildren count? Oh yeah! :)

Babies are hatching this morning! 4 are out so far with about 5 more pipped so far

I locked down 17 total.

Wow, you had a lot in. I had 7 in lock down, 6 hatched..one is having a bit of a problem. It's getting the Poly V. Wants that neck turned to the right a bit. I should get photos. I love the leghorn mixes, with the black spots. :)
