@NotAFarm just set a reminder on my phone to start collecting the eggs week before, that should work thank you. @KYTinpusher That excuse will not work for me as I get way over my head with hatching last spring I ended hatching more than I could house, Hubby build another bigger coop I don't think he can be convinced to build anymore

I have bad news but my Dominique hen just got killed by the stupid pigs... I had one have this happen to it before, but we fuxed the problem, until they dug down 3 ft and grabbed her from under.... This is why I like my birds... No pigs, goats, sheep, or cows. Even though we have them...

So sorry Nate. I think I may lose a hen...for the first time in yrs.! She's just been standing around, so finally went to take a look. She had egg shell hanging out of her, saw some egg white on the ground. I took the soft shell out, and now, can just hope she didn't have a lot stay inside. She is still not acting happy. Not eating. Just standing in one place. I put her back in the run, because she was just standing fluffed up on the snow. :/ Will see how she is doing in the morning. I could see in the vent quite a ways when I took a look..didn't see anything more.

She may have another egg further up..didn't feel anything hard while checking.

I hope she feels better tomorrow.

If she were mine, I think I would treat her like she was egg bound and give her calcium and a warm bath.

Nope, just got caught up again. Pass this on, Cupcake was on the roost next to Audun tonight...she must have gained coveted status! She has not gone broody like my others. I wonder if that line has lost that trait.

What color were the Ameraucana roosters? I would guess the maran, but I'm not an expert.

No clue. I am guessing the marans as well. Know mom was ameraucana though. Maybe I've got an olive egger! Hope he can pass it on, assuming it really is a he
