I am so torn between posting pictures of my lady amherst pheasant, or one of my peacocks for the most handsome male fowl picture... decisions are not my strong point. Haha. My peacocks photograph better, but there are already some peacock entries,as well as last years winner.

However, as I was seeing if I could get some more pictures, my yellow golden was feeling like a model...

Hey everyone! I'd love to join in on this Hatch-A-Long! I've never participated in something like this before but it sounds so much fun. I haven't had any luck finding EE's locally, my TSC rarely ever gets them, and most online hatcheries are either already backordered or require a minimum that I just don't want.... and I REALLY want some, so I'm caving and ordering some eggs on Ebay. I hatched some SLW/GLW that I ordered on Ebay back in the fall and sadly my hatch rate really wasn't all that great. 38 eggs, 9 hatched, 7 survived, 4 are roos (Anyone want a GLW roo?) -_- So here's to hoping that I might be a bit more successful with EE chicks! And just in time for Easter!

My main question is... I believe the person I'm ordering from will ship me two dozen eggs either monday or tuesday. So if I receive the eggs thursday or friday, will it be extra bad if I wait until saturday to incubate them for the hatch-a-long? I know there's already some risk of them being damaged in shipping, and the fresher the egg the better, I'm just wondering if the extra day or two of settling before incubating would cause any extra problems. If not, I'm totally in!

+/- 2 days of set dates is fine.

Okay, glad to hear! I let the other eggs I ordered sit for about 18 hours before putting them in the incubator, but it wasn't as cold out then and the air cells all looked good in them. Maybe sitting a full day or two will do these eggs some good then. I definitely didn't plan on getting these eggs just in time for this hatch-a-long, but now I'm glad to be a part of it!

IDK if this is the correct way to do this, but I place the shipped eggs in the incubator, not turned on, to rest for 8 hrs. before turning on the heat. (I don't want to move them any more than necessary.) After they rest at least the 8 hours, I start the incubator, but do not turn the turner on, for as much as 3 days, depending on the air cells. I don't want shipped eggs to sit un incubated very long. They have already been through enough.

I am setting 3 different orders of shipped original import isbar eggs from CA., OR, and AZ. for the hatch along. This will certainly be a test of my method, because all of them are coming through MEMPHIS.

Living dangerously for sure. Manna pro egg wash is ready to go, to clean the yolk off of any survivors.

Been there done it, but it worked.

I'm setting my turkey eggs tomorrow instead of Saturday. I just got a bunch picked up today and since my routine revolves around Friday sets and hatches, that's what I'm going to stick to. I'm going to be so overrun with birds in a few weeks lol
