We'll be setting our eggs tomorrow evening...I have to share my crazy chicken lady story related to the HAL...so my girls weren't giving me a lot to choose from for adding to the hatch and sahwithchicks (Nicole) was ever so awesome and sent me 8 eggs of hers!

She and I discussed how she'd label the box and add my number, specifying to the PO - NOT TO DELIVER - call ME TO PICKUP! Just to be in the safe side, I called our PO (& we're a rather small town) and told them that this box was coming and when it would arrive and that I absolutely did NOT want it out in the route to be delivered (being bounced around in the 4WD jeeps they drive here)
They wrote everything down (supposedly) and assured me they were on top of it.

FFWD to this AM, I see they arrived at our PO at 6:47am so I'm patiently waiting until they open to go get them...I let Nicole know they were here and as I was heading out, she mentioned she'd checked the tracking too and it now said "out for delivery"....WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!!!

I called them up and I could tell they had an "oh crap" moment when they heard my voice. I said "where are those eggs?? It say out for delivery - and it shouldn't!!"
They put me on hold and called the carrier and sure enough, they were piled in her jeep and on her route with her. I asked where she was and they directed her to stay there - picture me hauling booty from the farm to the edge of the next town I catch up with her and rescue those eggs!!!

Thankfully, they seem to be in excellent co diction thanks to Nicole's stellar packaging skills! (I haven't candled yet to see what abuse the PO may have inflicted along the way) but the box was in great shape, and labeled with NEON labels with my number right on top - I could tell the carrier was a bit embarrassed that she missed notifications that were THAT OBVIOUS LOL...(I think she was also a little scared at how I came to a nearly screeching halt on the side of the road when catching up to her lolllll)

(Just call me crazy chicken momma!)

Anyway, I'll add some pics of Nicole's packaging and the eggs. I have 8 to set from Nicole - my girls have given us a few but I'll need to recount them now and at the last minute tonight, I was able to buy some from a local gal - 18 total from her - 6 marans, 6 exquecher & 6 Amercauna!

I can't even tell you how excited we are for this first family hatch! (All of my kids are involved - well, the 4 younger ones at least) and Easter weekend is also my birthday!!!

(I cut off the half with my address and the big neon labor with my phone number for privacy but it was labeled VERY well!!)

:weee

Glad you tracked it down, I think they will probably be a little more cautious with your packages now ;)
