My brothers wife just stretches a wire back and forth across the top of her chicken run to deter the hawks, seems to work wonderfully. I don't have an outdoor run built yet, but I plan to do the same thing.

We actually used bright purple strips of cloth in a huge "spider-web" to stop the hawks.

A very unique looking yard but it worked.

Hi, I posted this on another thread, but thought I should post it here...Late on 3/5 I set 15 Blue Bantam EE's (Thanks TJ), 16 Spitzhauben eggs (Thanks Crazytalk), 19 of my own Silkie eggs and 6 Trader Joe eggs that I doubt are fertile, but I'm trying anyway. These are all in the new Brinsea. I added another 4 Trader Joes eggs in my LG. So, a total of 60 eggs for the Easter HAL.

Well I hadn't intended to set any this year but I have a hen decide to go broody so I have 2 under her. Weirdly she lays at noon and so does one of my others so I guess they wanted to do the hatch along. They were laid at noon and she started setting lol. This will also tell me if my roo is doing his job

Yaay, more broody mama's.. I am waiting to see some cute mother hens and babies.

Fever and sore throat! I think I may have caught what my mom had last week. This is driving me crazy.

I forgot to turn on the turner and just turned it on today a day late I hope it won't affect much. I have a still air incubator I was checking on it yet did not realize ilthe turner was off till a few hours ago.

I think it should be ok. I didn't have room in my turner for all my eggs so I had a choice. Set 48 eggs with turner or 54 and turn them by hand.
