Ok. I broke. I candled the eggs on day 6. All 16 are developing!!!!

I haven't candled my eggs yet, just waiting and trying to keep my hands off!!

Just candled my eggs. I only have 84 with development. So that is what I have left in the incubator. That would come out to a 75% fertility rate.

From the green Egger project out of 9 eggs set only 1 had any development. After this hatch in about 6 weeks after I'll do another small hatch to check to see if his fertility is any better. Or see if it is my hen that's not getting the job done. I just moved the rooster into another run with another 5 hens and this one. He is still a little young yet.

I was planning to take Marble to the swap tomorrow, but she's got huge bald spot around her vent. She's the only one that looks like that. I've checked her over for mites and lice. There's nothing there that explains what the heck is going on! It's driving me insane!

I don't want to treat them all again. Oddball and Jewel had mites a while back, so I treated EVERYONE. I've checked everyone else- nothing. Marble is the only one missing feathers.

Any ideas on what's going on? I really want to get rid of this hen. I can't stand her. But I'm not willing to make whatever is going on someone else's problem.

You say you treated for mites? Could it be stress or other birds pecking her? That can cause large bald spots and usual near vent areas. If you think others have been messing with her try so peck no more. Good luck.
