The 7th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-A-Long!

That's because you're candling the wrong end. The fat end is where the air cell is, and looking down, through the air cell, is where you should see veining and maybe even a tiny chick floating around.
I also wait until day 10 to pull any unless a clean blood ring is there. Some might be late developers or not as close to the heat. I like to to egg autopsys as well to see how they were doing before death.

Well I ended up pulling the clear because it was really porous and lit up like a Christmas light...I was sure there wasn't hope for that one. Another one was similar yet questionable (I marked it with an x because I really couldn't see an air cell but it's a dark brown egg so we'll see...)

I opened the bator back up and just left eggs in the turner and traced the air cells on the day ends.
A few saddle type air cells in some shipped eggs (darn you usps!!!) but I think the rest look pretty good for day 7? (Then again I was candling incorrectly to begin with lol)

Looks like they are coming along nicely. There are only few wonky air cells, but they don't look terrible.

I'm waiting on the other that I think is a clear and giving it till day 10...the other though, I pulled - it had no air cell and lit up like a Christmas light...oh well.

So I candled my eggs and they are actually developing maybe a little slower than they should be... But it's really happening!! To clarify I didn't expect any as we did not know the age of the eggs- we found them by the wood pile under the tarp- and I don't know what I'm doing... Anyway they all seem to be progressing except two that may have blood rings, but since I'm not really sure about that I'm going to leave them in for another couple of days.
But yay they're growing. What am I going to do with more chicks though? I already have like 45. I'm going to be overrun.
