My hubby said not to name mine either, lol.
Now we have King Rooster, Minnie, Pearl, The Buff Baron, Ning, Buff, Twank, Teeny, Eekey, Denyl, Dolly... I think that's it... Oh wait, and Snow.
To be fair, the strange names were picked by my 5 year old son: Denyl, Eekey, and Twank

Ok, what do you experts think? This egg isn't quite looking like the others. It's day 7. Is this a blood ring? There are still small veins in the egg, and this line doesn't go all the way around.

Not definitive enough. I'd wait until the next candle (day 14 in my book).

So cute. I love letting my kids name them. My husband told me I would look silly if I name that chick silver and it feather out to be black or spotted. I think she will stay true to silver color. Oh i hope.

Meet Silvia the silver (blue), otherwise Babe the blue chicken(after babe the blue ox and Paul Bunyon). My son's name is Paul, so it works out.

So 4 out of 7 hatched from my test batch. The other ones were looking good a few days ago, not sure what happened.

But the 4 that hatched are very cute, I can't get any clear pics of them though because they move too fast!

Candle day 8 out of 14 5 were clear. The rest had dark masses in them black copper marans.

Day 7 candling results for me!

I'm very disappointed

Of the 24 eggs I set only 6 are fertile and developing! 18 eggs look clear.
4 Columbian black tails and 2 pekin are growing. The Orpington eggs are all clear.

They arrived in good shape on next day delivery so I'm sure this has to be a fertility problem

Breeders don't want to hear that. I'm in the middle of the same thing. She says "no breeder guarantees fertility". Good luck to you

I was very fortunate in that the breeder I recieve eggs from a couple years ago told me that if I did not have at least 50% fertility he would send me more if I paid shipping. Fertility not hatching. 6 out of 12 hatched.
