The 7th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-A-Long!

With that many (styro bator?) I'd go ahead and quickly remove them... got a spray bottle of warm water handy? Pull them quick, give a spritz or 2 along the sides not directly on the eggs and close her back up... but that's just my opinion...

These are in a Brinsea, so to me, it's not as easy to open as the styros were. Those I could do 1 handed, this one takes 2 people or you need to take the whole cover off, set it down, take out chicks and put it back on.

Ahhh... maybe wait then, lol... hard to do that quickly without losing a lot of humidity quick... if you have someone who could help in the morning by holding it up just enough to do it, then I'd try then... :)

Ok, so I have had such horrible hatches lately that this first one in my new incubator is going too good.  I now have 16 babies, 12 warm, dry and fluffy, with at least 8 other pips.  Can I open it to take out the dry chicks and some shells to give the others room to move?  Or, with that many pips and I better of leaving it alone?  There are 34 eggs in there, so just over half have hatched.

Is it the 20? I've removed chicks from my 20 when its been full and just took the whole lid off and removed them. It's good with the humidity so soon got back up. As with any incubator opening can cause the risk of shrink wrap but that's not to say it would happen. It may or may not, no way to tell for sure.

Alright it has been a long day so this is not cleaned up just in the raw and I give this warning because six were mail order and three hatched and two lived so far but what a mess in the incubator when I got home ..

So two are molten Houdan chicks, three Easter egger chicks and two Russian Orloff chicks ..

And

If you look close two more are peeping side by side

So I have hatched out twenty three chicks this month but I add an egg every time a egg hatches or I find a egg that is a non developer

Thanks!!! They all hatched today, and at the last check they were all sleeping. So, I'm leaving them until the morning when I can have some help to move them.

Its the 40 and it's just wide enough and heavy enough that I can tilt the cover, I have to pull it off and I an't hold it with one hand. So, it's not a quick process. I"m hoping most will have hatched by the morning and I can do a quick pull of the driest chicks!

Thanks so much!!

Have a great night!

Congrats on the hatched chickies. But is that blood all over those eggs? What would cause that much bleeding in hatching chicks?

Awesome hatch!! Glad you've gotten a better one now!! :thumbsup

Oh, btw, those 2 Silkie babies are getting big and doing well!!! Thank you! :)

Right now mama hen has 5 chicks that she hatched and 1 that was from the Bator. She also has 3 eggs pipped under her. Now, I have 5 more pipped in the Bator!!!!

But sadly, I discovered that 3 were dead because I candles them and I saw blood rings.

A lot of 3's!!
