The 8 lb parakeet

Does anyone else have an oversized parakeet? I have a shoulder chicken. She's always climbing on for a ride.

I was worried you meant a real parakeet!

She’s adorable! Most of my oversized shoulder riders were when they were in their first year or so. Once the chicks grew into their independent stage, they didn’t want piggy backs. But, some are still jumpers, and can scale a five foot fence. Especially my white layers, an Ancona and a California White.

When I saw this post title, I actually thought you had a morbidly obese parakeet wnd I was concerned.

I recently took in a surrendered cockerel because a lady couldn't have him where she lived. His name is Louie, he is a Golden Laced Wyandotte. When I go out to the coop for the first time each day, he runs out of nowhere and hops up onto my arm to get first dibs at their daily feed in the container I'm holding. It is adorable. But he doesn't realize how sharp his claws are.

My two Prairie Bluebell Egger always fly on my shoulders (every time I go in the coop ) and I've even had my Blue Laced Wyandotte do it, which was a sweet surprise

I had one who used to "help" me take out the run by jumping on my back and nesting right where I couldn't reach her readily. She wasn't interested in riding my shoulder, though. Yours is beautiful!!
