The 8th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!!!!

I haven't tried hatching eggs with different incubation times at the same time. Do I just set the duck eggs first and on day 7 add my chicken eggs? I only have one incubator so have two set ups isn't an option.

Hey, anyone else ever do this?  Sounds like a plan!

I do this all the time with turkey eggs.I have a seperate hatcher now but before that, this was how I'd do it. Always works out well :) Before long, I'm going to have to figure out how to add muscovies in to the mix lol

I'm on day 10, candling pics to come. They are in the swimming embryo stage right now. So cute to see the little ducklings swimming around the embryo! (Not even hatched and they are already crazy about swimming

Ahhh! My momma duck has started her nest! She tends to be an overachiever and lays 17-20 before sitting, so fingers crossed she times it perfectly. I think she wanted to join the hatch a long!!
:weee

That is exactly how I approached it. I have chicken and duck eggs together. I have been keeping a watchful eye on temp and the water that is in the plastic trough in the bottom of my incubator. Things are going very well so far. Good luck to you.

Ideally yes. The problem though is that duck eggs never hatch on time for me. They usually hatch a day or so early so you could have a long active hatch time which equals a lack of sleep for me.

Yes, along with Turkey poults too.

Just realized I can join the EHA. your eggs are nice. Did you hatch those hens and if you did did you have a good hatch? My wheatens hatch rate is not good Maybe its just me..

That is great news!

What breed of Wheatens do you have?

I have 4 of them I love them Will never go back to light bulbs. The chicks learn to sleep at night and seem so much happier with their fake mama. You will be happy I'm sure!
