Ok, I'm sure that this may not be the right place to post this, but there are too many forums regarding lockdown. This is my first batch of eggs. I have them in a hovabator without a hygrometer to measure humidity levels. I've been keeping one channel filled with water in the bottom as the directions said that came with the bator. I am scheduled to go into lockdown tomorrow with 20 chicken eggs. I've been candling and things look like they are progressing well. My concern is that I have 5 duck eggs in with them and I'm worried about when I should stop turning the duck eggs. I have been hand turning them all twice a day since the start. Will the duck eggs be ok during the chicken lockdown or can I open the bator and turn them quickly. I'm really nervous that I am going to do something wrong. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Just in case, ducks are scheduled to hatch on March 18th. Chickens are scheduled to hatch on March 11th and 12th. Thank you.
It depends on the humidity at your place but I would fill all of the channels and open up any vents in the incubator. Watch for condensation on the view window. If you see that, remove the water from one of the channels.
Yes! They should be fine.![]()
I'd continue turning until you have pips. I had a similar situation, and the eggs that didn't get turned for a bit were fine.
Thank you for the advice. I'm so excited to see what comes from the eggs but I'm so nervous at the same time.
