The 8th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!!!!

I'm a little bummed out. Looks like the silver-laced orpington eggs I was hoping to set are a no-go. The hens stopped laying this week, so the breeder was only able to collect four or five fertile eggs. I'll make a trip to collect a dozen or more hatching eggs, but definitely not just four or five. In place of the SLO eggs, I may have some jubilee orps to set from another breeder, but I won't know the availability until later today.

Well my cemani eggs made it im setting them toommorow so they hatch a day early and another full incubator on Sat or Sun.
That's my eggs that i had shiped 2 me that broken one is one less chance to get a cemani but that's okay Maby the year of the rooster will help my hatching eggs.
Please let me know how this goes! I've thought of getting some of these myself, but I really want an idea of their personality, laying habits, durability, etc from someone that is not a seller. Also, please post plenty of pictures as the chicks hatch & develop!!!!

Depends on how old they are. Generally speaking the older they get the less likely they are to hatch, but you don't really start to lost viability for 10 to 14 days after they're laid.

You could set them today if you wanted and they'd still count for the Easter hatch

I so agree...I hatch silkie eggs often. I would go ahead and put them in. You will be fine for the HAL!

I have my eggs! Some Polish, some silverrud blues/isbars, and some mixed eggs that should have some NN, silkies, and maybe showgirls. They are resting from the trip and will be set tomorrow. I also will have 6 Isbar and Marans eggs under a broody hen at my sister's house. (they're my eggs under her hen so I am counting them. Her silkie wants to be a Mommy and she lost a few pullets last winter to bumble feet or something like that)
