My incubator is set up and ready to go
As my hens have been uncooperative with producing me eggs I went and got 10 Brahma eggs from a friend. Then (I'm not sure how this happened) I ended with three goose eggs to hatch!
He said he will have any resulting goslings back so that's a bonus but I have no clue on hatching goslingsI know they won't be part of the hatch a long but it's all very exciting to give them a go.
I'm glad I have a seperate incubator as I'm not sure everything will fit in the Brinsea but we will see.
For all the gosling hatchers out there what have you found the best humidity for these eggs?
To me, the biggest change in the ovation is no turner cradle, but a regular egg turner inside the bator. What I love about my Brinsea 40's, is I can offset the eggs and get WAY more than I"m supposed to get. I usually get 50 plus full size eggs. I have 63 bantam and full size mix in my 40. The second 40 has 62 eggs. Room for 63, but I put in my egg o meter - I didn't have a 63rd egg. The Ovation has the fixed number of slots for the eggs to sit. The Ovation that I saw still looks better than my LG does. I like how tightly Brinsea gets their covers to fit. They hold humidity and heat MUCH better.
The benefit to the water pump is that you can have a STEADY humidity. Mine almost never turns on during the first 18 days, and during lockdown, I can go to bed and not have to worry about getting up in the middle of the night to add water. You just have to make sure the tank doesn't run out of water.
