Update: The old Hovabator from the DI actually came from an Elementary school in Taylorsville UT! No wonder it has problems!
Despite the massive swings in temperature today's hatch day for our Japanese Quail Tester Run and this morning I heard one knocking!!!

Im hoping so! I'm hoping that everything goes well. This is our first hatching and I'm not sure what to do if I get a complicated birth or something. Plus, how long do I keep the eggs in the bator past today hoping they hatch for Quail?

I'm a little late joining the forum, but we just set our chicken eggs on Saturday, March 25th. 12 eggs, half olive eggers, half easter eggers. It's our first ever attempt at hatching, so fingers crossed!

Plenty of time for them to hatch. I usually wait a couple of days after due date for any stragglers that are late making an appearance. Once I think hatch is complete and all hatched chicks are in the brooder I will candle and check eggs that remain. Any I'm unsure of I will leave longer and then recheck.

Hey, I hadnt had a chance to reply yet. We set 10 eggs on Saturday. we lucked out and had two silkie hens go broody.
