Instead of coming into the chicken coop with her sisters and lucky the rooster last night, she decided to fly up on top of the roost and get stuck in the bird netting. She actually seemed pretty sleepy and content when I found her this morning. Almost like she'd slept in a hammock.
She chases around the wynadottes and the RIRs, ate some of my chard before I got netting up around the planter.
She constantly growls, second only to my leghorn.
She looks at me with the most condescending, pained and long suffering looks when I insist on scratching her back after I spread scratch in their coop.
I believe there must be some sort of Barred Rock underground. Your girl sounds like she is definitely in on it, too! I love the hammockleave it to a BR to find the comfiest spot! And a girl has to have her salad, especially since you planted it for her. . . . It seems they have trained us very well.
I looked out my window this morning and one of the BRs saw me and made a mad dash for the back porch. It's so funny to watch chickens run. Their heads go down low and their legs spin real fast... To steal a line from the movie... "Poulty in motion!"
All you barbara fans, I've got a little BART (Barred rock cockeral) he is so so sweet that needs a home - he's about 6 weeks old and came from Lockedhearts fabulous eggs.... I'm in northern CA
