Let me introduce the (almost grown-up) BP, aka "Black Pearl". BP was one of the babies hatched out of a batch of refrigerated eggs. While still in the incubator, she burned her eye on the heating element. Of course both my husband and I babied her from that point forward. She is one of our forever chickens, and we are happy to say she seems to have made a full recovery. She is a mixed breed. We know the sire is an Easter Egger, and we suspect the mother was an Australorp.
Today's episode (#1) takes us to BP's first ever jaunt outside of the coop and run...
^ BP knows she's all that. Those are just some of her boyfriends hovering in the background. But what's this? The front door is open? Perhaps it's time to get a breath of fresh air!
^ BP stares at the strange, cold and slippery ground, searching for anything that looks remotely tasty.
^ BP discovers that snow isn't all that bad. Hmmm.
^ BP skips merrily along, laughing at the boys who refuse to step foot outside. Tra la la!
^ BP decides that the outdoors is good as she stumbles upon a few blades of green grass. SCORE!!
P.S. Yes, I probably find way too much humor in my chickens.
